Question about Canon PIXMA MX310 All-In-One Printer

Driver for win98se for canon mx310

I jumped at a $40 sale on this printer - getting tired of using Kinko's to print...just got home from 3 months in hospital/rehab due to multiple pneumonias/sepsis, and thought this would be a good buy...I can ill-afford to throw away $40, being on disability. I downloaded the driver below - anyone hear of it before, and will it work?

Canon PIXMA MX310 Series Easy-WebPrint v2.6.4 Windows 98/ME/2000/XP(x32/x64)

Anyone know of any driver for windows 98se? I haven't been able to keep up with the latest and greatest due to lack of funds, but I was given a couple computers by a roommate from one of my 15 hospitalizations since 9/07 - they were supposed to have xp on 'em but when I booted them up, they didn't boot, so put in boot disk, and saw there was one directory - with the title being literally in greek (greek characters), so naturally couldn't cd to it.

If I can't find the driver, maybe someone can steer me toward a reasonably priced copy of win xp or 2000? I DO have mac os 10.2.8, and according to all I can see, there are drivers that support it. I use both, because I also do web design (and would like to get back to it if I can ever stay out of the hospital - pulmonary interstitial disease). We had to make a hasty move over the last couple weeks...a home visit by the folks at the rehab found my mobile home distinctly unsafe due to the increased o2 needs and the many gas appliances/pilot lights. We were blessed...daughter and I - found two one-bedroom apts, section 8, NO waiting period!!!!! But...the adapter for the vga monitor to hook into the mac became MIA during the move...gotta find it or get another. Can the fax part of the printer be used without the drivers?

WELL YOU CAN DOWNLOAD UTORRENT AND THEN WHEN YOU HAVE IT . YOU CAN GO TO PIRATEBAY AND GET A FREE COPY OF ANY OPERATING SYSTEM YOU WANT. JUST HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT AND INSTALL. AS FAR AS THIS DRIVER FOR YOUR PRINTER. I AM NOT SURE AS WINDOWS 98 HAS BEEN GONE FOR SUCH A LONG TIME. I AM NOT SURE THAT ANY DRIVERS CAN BE FOUND FOR IT.YOU CAN ALWAYS TRY TO INSTALL IT AND SEE IF IT WORKS. IF NOT YOU CAN ALWAYS REMOVE IT. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I bought some ink cartridges yesterday for my printer and got 510&511 combo pack for a MX320 only to get home and notice mine has 40&41 combo in it and is a MX310. Can I still use the 510&511...

That printer uses the following ink cartridges

PG-30
CL-31
(low capacity)

PG-40
CL-41
(normal capacity)

PG-50
CL-51
(high capacity)

The ink you purchased will not work on the Canon PIXMA MX310 printer.

When you go to save it or just before that you select file then go to print properties under that there should be a selection to print it in black and white.

Canon MX310 - I'm trying to connect this printer to my network. Currently, I have the printer connected to an Airport Express but when I try to print from my iMac, I get a message that the printer is...

Adkinsdave, keep in mind that often having someone remotely connect to your computer with you and perform this task is easier than trying to walk you through steps and potentially missing a step. With that being said, the Airport Express was meant to make setting up a WiFi network in your own home a breeze.
We need to first determine if your Canon PIXMA MX310 has a Mac driver. According to the Downloads page at Canon.com, there are several Mac drivers available for OS X, 10.5 and 10.6: usa.canon.com - simply choose your OS on the pulldown from that website. Once your computer has the driver it needs to communicate with the printer, you can use your Airport Express to connect to the printer.
Obviously, make sure the printer is turned on and once you go through the Airport Express connect guide you should be printing in no time.
Let us know if there are still issues.

Canon mx310 feeds paper w/out printing

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Driver for Samsung ML-1640 for WIN98SE

I got the same problem. It seems they did not develop specific drivers for win98se. However, I found that you can print using the drivers for the old Samsung ML-2510. Win98se drivers for that printer can still be downloaded from Samsung website. I've been using the 2510 drivers with the 1640 printer for a couple of months, and worked fine so far. It seems very little change in electronics from the 2510 to the 1640 model.
You need also Virtual Printer Port for USB from microsoft.

Can't print to mac wirelessly (could do it a few days ago)

I had the same problem until recently. You have to install the drivers FROM THE CD that came with the printer, instead of selecting the drivers from the default list. Then, when selecting which printer driver to use (you'll have two options) choose Canon IJ and NOT Canon MX310 series. This is a problem with their MX310 driver, which is solved using a default/generic Canon InkJet (hence, the IJ) driver. Hope this helps!
P.S. This only works on Mac OS X. I have yet to figure out how to print wirelessly through Vista. Will keep you posted.
