Visio television how to turn closed caption off?

If pressing the cc button on the Sharp remote does not turn off the closed captioning then the closed captioning is most likely coming from the cable box or whatever you have connected to this television. You can go into the cable box menu by pressing the menu button on the front when it is turned off. That's right turn off the cable box and then press menu on it to access the hidden menu that includes closed captioning. Scroll down to closed captioning and scroll over to disable. A number of other Directv receivers have the CC located on a "captioning" tab on the "display" page under setup and for dish network:
Setting Closed Captioning:

1. Press and release the MENU button and then select "Preferences."
2. Select "Closed Caption."
3. Select "Caption On/Off."
4. Select "CC is On."
5. Select "Done."

From the main menu, surf though and enter the closed caption window. Here you can see options for Analogue closed caption, Digital; closed caption and Caption style to select. Here select "OFF" for both analogue closed caption and digital closed caption option.OK.

Press CC (close caption) button on tv remote to turn off close caption box or got to tv menu and turn it off.
Black box will disappear.

Go into on scrren menu and find the setup screen scroll to C.C. area and click through untill you find the word off. There are currently many different C.C. styles so you may have several choices untill you get to off.

The problem was with the Motorfolla Comcast cable box not my T.V. . I turned off my Comcast cable box, pressed menu on the remote to the cable box. This made a 16:9 ratio appear on the cable box's LED read out, and a bluish screen appear on my television. One of the options on my television was to turn on and off closed captioning. Therfore, I turned off closed captioning and the problem was solved.

Did you change the language to English? turn off closed cap.?

On the TV's user menu (press "menu" button) look for "Captioning" or "Closed Caption" choice. If not immediately in view look in "set up" or "Audio"...it should be in the menu. Find it and then turn it off.

If the black rectangle is in the middle'please check to see that the closed caption is not activated.If not please provide the location of the rectangle.
