Question about Cobra microTALK LI6000-2 (14 Channels) 2-Way Radio

Open Question

Cobra Micro Talk LI6000 One radio won't turn on

So Ive had these radio for sometime now..No problems. Haven't used them for awhile. Both batteries are good, but one radio will NOT turn on. I took them camping in the summer and were working great. Didn't drop them or anything. No dirt or water damage. Could there just be a lock on that radio that went haywire? Should I press a sequence of buttons to turn reset the thing? Kinda frustrating having only one radio(kinda defeats the purpose)! If anyone knows whats going please let me know!
Thanks
Pat

My radios worked fine last winter when they were last used. I charged both radios before attempting to use them and one will not turn on. I removed its battery and put in the second radio, it worked fine. I have tried pushing the power button for a significant amount of time and there is no change.

I have similar issue. Both batteries are good, but one radio is not receiving anything. It is transmitting though. I was also looking some kind of reset.
    Does anyone has any solution?

  • The fact that these turn on while on the charger is an indicator that the batteries are just that far gone. Depending on how much you like these radios vrs the cost of a new set is something to think about.

  • This link is where you can get a reliable battery replacement.

  • I use a newer Midland talk around for camping, hiking etc. The thing I always look for in a talk around radio is if the manufacturer battery goes bad or runs dry can I use some batteries at home with it? I like the fact I can put 4AA batteries of the shelf in my radio in an emergency. And when the stock battery gores kaput, I can use some AA rechargeable batteries I already have at home and save on replacing the battery or radio. Something to think about should you decide to get a different radio set.

Whats the voltage maximum on the cobra walkie talkies

Most lithium small radio batteries are 3.6 volts. If AA or AAA batteries, multiply by 1.5 volts. 4 batteries = 1.5 * 4 = 6 volts MAXIMUM. Rechargeable batteries are 1.2 volts. Your charger would be a much higher voltage because it takes power to "push" the charge into a battery. You didn't say, so I am assuming you want to operate the radio with a wall charger. I've done this by soldering the wires to the battery contacts. You need a higher voltage than 3.6 volts, but milliamps is more important. You need enough milli amps to get the radio to transmit. Too much and it frys, literally. So, this is all on you to decide if the risk is worth it. I use a 5-6 volt power supply set on no more than 1 amp (800 ma is my favorite size) 1 amp = 1000 ma. Let us know if this helped!

Try searching online for the "li6000 service manual" or contact Cobra. The user guide should have contact information and I know that is online.

My Cobra micro talk two-way radios have lithium batteries. They will not charge in the charger, the light won't come on. If I take the batteries out and put them in the charger alone the light lights...

Check your battery contacts to see if they have a film of dirt or debris. If so, clean them with a pencil eraser. Check to see they are making good alignment with the contacts in the charger. If these suggestions do not solve your issue, you may have a bad solder on a battery contact in the radio. (Be certain the radio is shut off when charging.)

Best regards.

I have the cobra micro talk with rechargeable batteries my workers plug them up every night and get them in the morning but some arestill saying low battery, does the walkie talkie need to be turned off...

they charge better if they are turned off. since they do not have a paid dedicated channel, signals can

still be received by any walkie talkie using the same channel, and can deplete the charging process

to the radio. good luck!

I cannot get one of the radios to turn on. I've tried a good battery to no avail

Your fuse is blown, not sure if you can replace it.
Some of our radios you have to take quite a bit apart to get at the fuse and replace it.
