Long story short after running fuel below E and fueling at station idle went rough then motor quit will start w flud and run a few minutes even afterchangng filter as well as draining tank

Its possible you gummed up the pump, or cooked it.
There may be goop in the strainer before the pump from the bottom of the tank, and the pump may also have overheated since the gas in the tank acts as both a coolant and a lube.

Not all new thermostats are actually working thermostats. It may require a second one. However,if the fan does not work it will be hard to tell.Is there a fan belt running to it?The goop that was added to it could actually plug up the the rad coils or rods and make it extremely hard to cool itself. It needs to be flushed.

I would try PLUMBER'S GOOP (hardware store) on the copper pipe. Remove it and put a liberal amount of goop on the end about a quarter inch back from the tip -- insert and smooth the goop around the connection -- let it cure for 24 hours -- turn water back on.
