run system restore first. try to restore to the point where the wireless was still working. if fails then uninstall then reinstall the wireless driver. if fails try to reseat the wlan card.
Put recovery disk in the CD drive. On reboot, hold down F12 key. You should get a choice of drives to boot from. Make sure the first two are in the correct order:
1. CD-ROM (optical drive)
2. HDD (hard drive)
then press F10 to save and exit.
Now the laptop should boot correctly from the recovery disk.
It could be the switch, but most likely it's just a glitch. Try a system restore, you may have to go back a couple of restore points, but this should clear it up. If it doesn't, get back with me and I'll walk you through the settings for this. If you want to try the settings yourself, you can find them in the display properties, screen saver tab, power button towards the bottom, and you will find settings for for stand by.
Follow this process ---> Press and Hold CTRL + F11 by the time you see the blue line that has www.dell.com after the dell splash logo and then it would show up the symantec ghost --> choose restore then follow the rest of the affirmative prompts
