How to reset denon s 301receiver?

Instructions
  1. How to Reset Denon Receivers
    • 1 Save the information currently stored in your Denon receiver, such as device commands and multi-zone controls. Some Denon receivers can control multiple rooms and each room needs to be setup properly to provide the correct controls. If the receiver was installed professionally it may be best to contact the installer before resetting the device.
    • 2 Press the "Power" button or the "On/ Standby" button to shut off the receiver. On some receivers it is best to press the button on the device instead of the remote as the remote will normally put the receiver in standby mode. Ensure the display and all other lights on the device are off. Do not unplug the Denon receiver as it will not reset.
    • 3 Press the "Power" button and at the same time press two buttons on the front panel, which are determined by the model Denon you own. Most receivers identify the two buttons inside the user's manual, while some older Denon receivers require you contact Denon for the right button combination. For example, some Denon models require the "Standard" and "DSP Simulation" buttons to be pressed simultaneously.
    • 4 The display will start flashing at about one second intervals. Release the two buttons. Turn on the receiver by pressing the "Power" or the "On/ Standby" button to verify the previous settings and saved radio stations have been erased. If the interface does not flash, the reset was not complete and needs to be re-done. Re-enter the previous settings to ensure there are no further issues with the receiver.

My denon avr 1803/883 shut off while playing a cd that had only been in for 5 minutes. there have been no changes to the inputs or additions to speakers. atthis time when i turn it on it is on for about 10...

CHECK IC101 AND IC102 THESE ARE THE + AND - 15VOLT REGULATORS. iF THEY ARE OFF BY MORE THEN 3 VOLTS IT WILL SHUT THE UNIT DOWN/IC101 IS THE +15V AND IC102 IS THE -15V IF THESE VOLTAGES ARE GOOD THEN THE UNIT IS GOING IN TO THE PROTECT MODE AND YOU WILL HAVE SHORTED OUTPUT TRANSISTORS. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

Brand new avr588 receiver is turned on....is on for five seconds and then cuts off to standby

Hi donnie025,

I can't believe you haven't received an answer before now.

The red flashing light normally indicates that the protection circuit has been tripped. It can be caused by something as simple as a short in a speaker wire. Even if there is one strand of loose wire that makes contact with the back of the receiver, another wire, etc. it can cause a short. To protect itself the receiver will simply shut down.

1st. I would suggest disconnecting all the speaker wires from the back of the receiver. Then turn on the receiver (obviously you won't hear any sound) and see if the receiver does the same thing. If it does you should try disconnecting all of the source components (DVD player, Cable box etc.) and try again. If it still does it the receiver is bad and needs to be serviced or exchanged if you still can.

2nd. If the receiver stays on after you disconnect, then turn off the receiver and connect one speaker at a time, then power on the receiver at test it after connecting each speaker. This way if it suddenly shuts down after connecting a speaker you know which speaker or wire to check.

Let me know how it works out for you, I hope this helps if you haven't figured it out already.

Denon AVR Reciever

You might have a short somewhere behind the back of your receiver.Maybe a speaker wire sticks out and it is touching the back of the metal panel,or an RCA connection to a wrong input or output.
It is common because when you are behind the receiver for so long, carelessness will cause you.
A professional A/V troubleshoot expert could pin point certain connection to fix it for you,but in your case,it will be the best to unplug everything first, turn on the receiver by itself and see if there is anymore shut off;if it doesn't shut off after you have nothing that is connect to but only the power cord,i prove my point!
Let me know,

It's going into protect. Unhook ALL the speakers and see if it still shuts itself off. If so, then it will have to be taken in for service.
