Use a free program such as Riva FLV Encoder to convert your DVD file to AVI format. Once it is in AVI format, then run it through the Philips Media Converter - should work like a champ after that.

No cd for go gear to convert videos

You can get it by going to www.usasupport.philips.com
Enter in your exact model #
Click on the link for your exact model #
Click on "software & drivers"
Click on "Media Converter Software" - download and install

You have to use the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter to convert/transfer videos. If the converter is not recognizing a specific video type - FLV, for instance - download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder and convert the videos to AVI format first. Then the Philips Media Converter will recognize them.

The Philips Media Converter is not capable of converting an entire DVD - you will have to acquire video editing software, and then break up the DVD files into 15-minute chunks, and then convert each chunk.

If you are getting a codec error, do a google search for free video codecs - they are out there. Windows Codec Pack and downloading the latest version of quicktime will give you most of these needed codecs.

This player is not capable of playing copyright-protected videos - so don't even bother with them.

Additional information is available both from Philips website and from Arcsoft's website.

How do you put videos onto an 8gb gogear philips mp3 player?

You have to use the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter to convert and transfer video files to the Philips GoGear. Because the software likes to play a preview of the movie, you may have to download additional codecs to make it work. Copyright-protected or DRM-encrypted video files are not compatible with the GoGear.

Philips GoGear SA3245 not playing converted videos

Get the updated version of the Arcsoft Media Converter from www.usasupport.philips.com. Even so, you will need to split the video into 15-minute chunks, and convert the smaller chunks. This player is really for shorter, YouTube-style videos.

I've got recordings on my philips go gear mp3 which i cannot transfer onto my computer through windows media player. With all other mp3 players this can be done hassle-free so what's the problem?

If your computer detects the mp3 player automaticly you can click open folder to veiw files when the box appears then select the files you want to add to your computer right click copy and paste them into your music or video folder then open windows media player click file then click open go to the folder you pasted your files in and open them from there once you open them and play them for about a minute the windows media player then should automaticly add them to your library. If This doesn't work get back to me and i can help you figure this out.

Loading dvds on to Go Gear 4 GB

Simple language - the mp3 player came with a CD - it has a program on it that converts video called Philips Media Converter - unfortunately, it will not convert a whole DVD - it can only convert 15 minute or less, You-Tube type videos

If you didn't insist on simple language, I would tell you how to break your DVD into 15 minute chunks so you could put it on the Philips, but you are probably too simple to figure it out

I dont know how to put a movie/video onto my philips go gear 4GB

Use the Arcsoft Media converter that came with the installation CD - also available at www.usasupport.philips.com

Click Add Files

Find the folder with the video files in it

If you don't see the file that you are looking for, it is in FLV or some other format that the converter doesn't recognize - in this case only, download an FLV to AVI converter (or whatever the case may be) and convert them to AVI format. THEN, run them through the Philips/Arcsoft Media Converter

You can save the converted files to a folder, or load them directly to the GoGear - by selecting "add to device"
