My Girlfriend got a mate to install a CD Player and now the car has no tail or dash lights and the CD Player has no memory WTF??? Its obviously a wiring issue but i know F... All about it. How much to...

Stereo wiring is actually really simple, the memory problem is probably down to an simple swapped wire, on a head unit there is a red and a yellow cable, one of which needa a permanent feed to keep your memory. As it is at the moment, if the cd player works with no key in the ignition then it seems as though these two have been swapped. If you dont need the cd player to run with they key out, simply swap these two wires. If you do want it to run with no key, then connect both red and yellow to the same feed, try it, if it doesn't work, conect both to the other feed.

Mind you dont touch any cables to any metal as you may cause a short and blow a fuse.
Chances are that it is a fuse that is sottping your rear lights from working, locate your fuse box. This may be in the glove box, below the steering wheel or under the bonnet near to your battery. Check in the lid for the fuse box for i diagram of which fuses do which tasks. Locate check and change if needed the one for your rear lights. If you can find no diagram, remove each fuse one by one to see which has blown and replace with one of the same rating.

I hope that this has been helpful, give yourself a couple of hours to do it and you could save yourself a chunck of cash. An auto electrician will charge you for diagnosing the fault, tracing the fault and repairing the fault. Could work out to be costly.

Jumping battery, I cross-wired posts on battery, 97 Toyo Camry. Now radio & 1/2 dashlights do not work. Presumably it's a fuse (I hope!), but eyeballing the fuses turned up no blown fuses. Which...

did you check both fuse boxes? sometimes a fuse can look good and still be bad. if you have a multimeter or test light, check them with that. you may be able to pick up an inexpensive test light at any automotive parts store if you don't have one.

I have just put in a new cd player in my 1991 nissan pulsar but i think i have blown a fuse as the cd player light comes on but doesn't actually turn the cd player on. I cannot find which fuse it is as all...

Sounds like you have a constant feed going to the head unit, but the accessory wire on the head unit is not connected to an accessory 12v.
Are you using an aftermarket wiring harness or fishing through in-dash wires?

If you really want to check if there is a fuse blown, unhook your head unit and briefly touch the 12v accessory, 12v constant, and ground to the battery of your vehicle. If your head unit comes on, you have found your culprit of one of three wires.
