You can easily go through your settings on the router by using either a desktop or laptop that is PLUGGED directly into one of the LAN ports on the router (ie ports 1-4) type 192.168.1.1 into a browser and log into your router, then you will be able to go through all your settings and put a new passphrase or whichever type of encryption you want

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to connect to the Belkin Router Wirelessly and it is asking you for a Security Key, all you need to do is to access the router settings page and look for the Network Key or Passphrase.

To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.2.1, the Default password is blank

Click on Security under Wireless and look for the Security Key or Network Key (Passphrase)

Thanks for using Fixya.

I dont remember my password i cant acces anything

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID WPA or encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router. To accessthe Belkin configuration, connect a LAN cable from the Belkin to the LAN porton your computer. Open a browser and enter the Belkin configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1 The defaultPW = blank (just press Enter) You can nowgo into the wireless settings to obtain the WPA2 encryption key or change it toa new one.

We have a belkin.49ed router and hooked it up. It

The wireless security of the Belkin must have been enabled. Use a computer wired to the router to access the setup page and get the network key.

In the address bar of your browser, type 192.168.2.1.

By default, leave the password blank.

Once on the setup page of the router, go to Wireless -> Security. You will see the network key here.
On your laptop, view the available wireless networks and you should see your wireless network name or SSID, then when you click connect you have to enter the network key.

I hope this helps!

Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.

Belkin G Router cant hook up 2nd computer HELP

Get the same friend back out LOL :-)

First of all, look at the IP address the first computer has. That's done by pressing the Window symbol and "R". It opens up a box and you type CMD on the line and press OK. It opens up a new window and you type the command IPCONFIG and press enter. It will spit out a bunch of numbers, but the only 2 that matter is the first line telling you what address the PC has and the 3rd line telling you what the address of the Gateway is. Generally the Gateway is in the form of 192.168.2.1
That's the Belkin default but it may be something different. Now, the real question is what happens when you try to connect to the network from the new computer. Does it show your wireless network and is it secure? If it is, you're going to have to find the password. When you try to connect to the secure network, it will ask for a WEP or WPA key.

Go to the working computer, open Internet Explorer, and on the address bar type http://192.168.2.1 or whatever gateway address you got above. It will open up a new box with LOGIN in the upper right corner. If your "friend" didn't set a password, you'll get right in. If he did, remember the first line.

Outside of that, finding the security key should be easy enough to follow if you open this tutorial http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/33/p/386

A WEP key is 10 or 26 hexidecimal characters (0-9, A-F) not case sensitive. A WPA key can be anything from 8-63 characters and it is case sensitive so MyKey is different from mykey or any other variation.

Your last resort is to reset the router, especially if it's a DSL. You will have to do a lot of extra programming and it usually requires the original paperwork for addresses, login, and password to the inernet to set up.

Then go to wireless secirity.

But if you are not able to access router configuration page then you have to reset it.

My belkin router won;t connect to my laptop, wii, ds or dsi

Did all these devices use wireless? Or were they plugged into it?

The router may have reset itself so you might have to sign in to the router and setup the wireless again.

The PC that is hooked via ethernet, did it use the router wirelessly at all?

Try signing into the router and check the wireless security key settings etc. Reset it if you have to type in a new key and try testing the settings with one of your wireless devices to see if it works. Remember to have the device on the same key/index/channel and the same security type as is set on the router.
