O.K. this was a tough one.  I started here. Without asking for help in the sansa forum I reviewed the entire user manual.  This manual (as you may already know) does not contain the words "mute" or "unmute". So I will refer you to the forum sansa has set up for users.
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Sandisk-Fuze-MP3-Players-manual/id/16010ci075/t/2/

retrevo is a great source for manuals, reviews and support for all electronics.  I would go to the support group sansa has and ask there.  If no unmute is found, this solution will surely unmute your player.  However if you do resort to this your player will be reset to factory settings.  This will not affect memory, but all your system settings will be reset.   That means any customized wallpaper settings, art displayed in lists, backlight, power saver, language, date and time, brightness and volume settings will be restored to their original status!  Memory content will not be affected!  Only formatting the memory drive will delete memory content. So...
This will restore the player to its original factory settings.
1. Press Home button to return to the Main Menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Scroll down to System Settings and select it.
4. Scroll down to Reset Factory Settings and select it.
5. Use thumbwheel to highlight Yes then press the Select button.

I have my tascam bb-1000cd and a wireless mic into record and there is a speaker icon with a slash across it

A speaker icon with a slash across it = your speaker is on MUTE. Try to turn the sound volume up or if you have a MUTE button on the device, press on it to UNMUTE the speaker.

How to program Direct TV remote

How to program your DIRECTV remote control:

Press MENU on remote.
Select "Parental, Favs and Setup".
Select "System Setup".
Select "Remote".
Select "Program Remote".

While aiming remote at device, follow onscreen instructions to program remote to TV, DVD, or other device.

How to program the white DIRECTV remote to your TV

Look up the control codes for your DIRECTV remote control.
Make sure your TV is turned on.
Slide the mode switch at top of remote to "TV".
Press and hold the MUTE button. This is located above the number 1 button.
While still holding down MUTE, press and hold the SELECT button until the green light at the top of the remote flashes twice.
Enter the first TV code you have. The green light on remote should flash twice.
Aim remote at TV and press PWR button once. The TV should power off.
Once the TV is able to power off/on and control the volume, slide the mode switch at the top of the remote back to the left (DIRECTV). Your remote is now programmed.

If the TV does not power off, repeat steps 4, 5, 6, and 7, using the next code for your TV brand.

If remote control fails to program using all available codes, try scanning for the code.

How to scan for TV codes on your DIRECTV remote

Make sure your TV is turned on.
Slide the mode switch at top of remote to "TV".
Press and hold the MUTE button. This is located above the number 1 button.
While still holding down MUTE, press and hold the SELECT button until green light at the top of the remote flashes twice.
Then enter 9911, the green light on remote should flash twice.
Point remote at TV and press CHANNEL UP button. Tap the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly until the TV powers off.
When the TV powers off, press and release the SELECT button.

Note: If the green light flashes three times before TV responds, then all codes have been cycled through. Our remote controls are guaranteed to program to your DIRECTV receiver, however your TV may not be compatible with our remote control.

You can find more help in the Remote Controls section of our Technical Forums at forums.directv.com. You can also use our Interactive User Guide to learn the ins and outs of your remote control.

Speaker stoped working

Hi only1jokey...

Look for the speaker icon on your desktop in the right bottom portion of the sceen.
Also when you find it, RIGHT click on it, you will have two choices to make, choose and check each one of the choices to make sure that NONE of the boxes on each
choice has a checkmark in Mute,if there is a check mark then uncheck it.
NOTE:In "Open Volume control: you will find slider to adjust for volume,Wave,CD Player, etc.
After that is down, then LEFT click on the speaker icon and make sure that the slider is all the way to the top and that the Mute does not have a check mark,if it does remove the check.
If that does not work the re-install the audio driver for your computer.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

How can i get my ipod touch to work with out the headpones because when i unplug the headphones out i can heard nothing and is supossto work with out them do i need to turn then on ? how do i do that ?

This Joelwilcox guy is correct.  The speakers should come on when you don't have the headphone jack plugged in.  Check the mute and also slide the volume bar up higher.
Your speakers won't work if you dropped it hard or exposed this thing to any type of moisture or water.  This kitty doesn't like water.  Take the thing into the store for exchange if your within your 30 day warranty window.  Take the thing into the Apple store if your within your 1 year warranty window.  You don't need your receipt, cause they just look on the back plate of the ipod for the serial # and type it into their computer.  The computer will tell them if your ipod is within the one year warranty.

Audio slider does not work

I have the same problem. After trying the adjust the volume on the screen, it went all the way down and slided back to mute everytime after I pulled it up. The volume button on the right didn't work either. I called Archos tech support on Feb 13, 2011 and they said they no longer fix this product because it's 4, 5 years old. But they would offer me a 15% discount for an upgrade. Why would I want to buy the same brand again if it's so unreliable?
