Guest accounts have limited rights and cannot have admin rights..
You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/

SOURCE: No Icons show up

When you have your desktop up & displayed, click the right mouse button & it will bring up a menu. Hover your mouse above the "Arrange Icons By" option and it will bring up a sub menu. If the "Show Desktop Icons" option does not have a check mark to the left of it, that is your problem. If there is no check mark, navigate down to it and click on it with your left mouse button and that will make your icons display.

When I open Windows XP I get a pop up; ' Run as' asking me 'which account do you want to use ..

Go to your control panel and then "user accounts". at the bottom of the window that pops up there should be one or two accounts ... yours and possibly a guest account. Make sure your account says "computer administrator" Chances are you have another account name there for someone else in your home. That person may be set as the Computer Administrator? You can turn the Guest account off if you have no use for it.

Compaq Armada E500 Windows guest password reset

Reset windows 7 password, three ways:

1. Another valid administrator account which can normally log on.
2. A password reset disk or a repair disc, which is created in advance ( before you lost password ).
3. Third-party software to create a bootable password reset CD/DVD or USB, like Windows Password Reset .

I cant create another user account on my windows 7 after i accidentally deleted the default guest account within the system. The default guest account also fails to logon. I have tried solving this problem...

Click Start then in the search box type: System Restore

When the results of the search is returned at the top, select System Restore. When System Restore opens, select a Restore Point (date and time) before you deleted the Guest Account. System Restore will not delete your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was installed after the date and time you selected).

You don't have to use the latest default date that it will bring up first. There is an option to see more dates or restore points.

Hi i need to restore my Phillips iqor computer to factory settings as i am getting rid if it and don't want to leave my personal information on it

You don't have to go thru all that trouble to get rid of your personal information. First just create a new user account with administrative rights that the person who is getting your computer will use. After you create the new user account reboot the computer and log on with the new account you created. Then Delete your old user account. It will delete all your documents, music, pictures, videos.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts then create the new user account with Administrative Rights (not limited).

Reboot and and log on with the user account you just created.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Account and select the account you want to delete and Delete it. When asked about files to save, you want to delete everything associated with the account you are deleting.

If you have more than one user account you want to delete, do the same thing for it.

My administrator account is corrupt and i can not log into it, but luckily i have the guest account turned on but with this account i can not create a new account like an administrator one. so how do i...

Without using 3rd party pay-for tools, I would recommend locating the Windows CD that came with the machine. I would then boot to the CD, and use the Recovery Console option. When you get into the recovery console, you should be able to log in using the administrator password only. This doesn't load the Administrator profile, it just uses the password for permissions reasons. I would then navigate to the Documents and Settings folder (assuming this is XP) and rename the Administrator profile folder to something else. Once you rename this folder, restart the computer, log in as Administrator again, and Windows will create a new profile for the Administrator, and leave your old one alone. Once you're logged in, you can browse to the old profile and get your files and pictures back.

Just create a new account and sign on to the new account copy everything from the old account before deleting the old account and then delete the back up account as well. You will then have just the newly created account and the guest account.

I put a password on my computer & then made a Guest Acct and i forgot my password. Is there anyway to get it reset or something?

log in as an administrator account then from there you can delete the guest account and create a new one.

if you do not know the administrator account then you need to go into safe mode for the computer. to get to safemode, just press F8 while the computer is booting up until you are given a menu. From the menu, simply select "Safe mode" and then login to the un-passsworded admin account. once you are inside just delete the guest account there and create a new one.
