Hitachi 50FX48B shuts off for no reason !!

We have a Hitachi 50FX48B where it shuts off for no reason. There are no red lights on the front or anything. We would wait for awhile then we can turn it back on, then it shuts down when it feels like it. We were told that it might be a resistor #51, if so, where can we purchase one and is there instructions on the web on where it is located and how to replace it?

If it is shutting off, you can have many things shutting it off. Hitachis are riddled with protect circuits. Excessive current draw from many circuits could cause a shutdown. Best bet is to pull back off and watch green lights on power board, first light off is usually a suspect circuit that would be good to look at (assuming you have one that goes out immedieatley). Some have had flakey regulators also.

Since this is an older non HD set, I would suspect regulator and a large Sandblock current sense resistor mounted right next to it, part / Location #'s elude me at this moment, but they are on the deflection PCB close to where the ac goes into the board from the power cord and fuse/ chokes.

Have a 50fx48b Hitachi TV and screen flickers and then goes to small wavy horizontal line. smack tv and it goes back to normal.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

I have a hitachi 50inch 50fx48b for free and trying to fix it i can hear it turn on but theres no picture or sound and if i push the power button again u can hear it turn off any help would be very...

hitachi has leds on the power board that will light up with the different supplies to let you know which is not coming up. there are small yellow chemical fuses that look like a plain yellow/green resistor with no lines on it. you can check them with an ohm meter to find the blown one. sometimes E994 will blow on the 120v line and you'll find a little blue "gumdrop" cap with a burn mark in it that caused it. the cap is just to the right about 2 inches in front of the horizontal output transistor (big transistor (3 legs) on a large heatsink

Hitachi 61UDX10B

I would check for burnt resistors as the 150s are interchangeable with the 110s however in alot of hitachis I have seen resistors blow after upgradeing to the higher wattage ICs. I Usually switch out the convergence resistors whenever I go to a higher wattage IC just to be sure. If you need more help let me know.
