Iphone not picking up signal from carrier

I have my iphone unlocked with version 2.0.2 and i've had it that way for about 4 months and all of a sudden its showing that i have no bars and it doesnt display a service, but it shows the bottoms of the bars if you know what i mean. then when i go into selecting a carrier, it will sometimes pick up at&t and t-mobile, but when i click on t-mobile, it just says that the carrier is no longer available. i've tried to unlock it again, but for some reason, i keep having problems with the program on my computer. im totally lost and in desperate need of help!

It may help to restore to firmware 2.2 and use quickpwn to do the unlocking. It may not even be required to unlock it again, an activation using quickpwn could be sufficient. If it doesn't get signal after that, you have a hardware issue (loose antenna or defective communications board). There are iPhone repair guides online that show you how to fix issues like that.

If you can do a full restore back to factory settings (re-locked? I don't know if you can even re-lock it... lol.. I haven't unlocked mine) and see if that works. If not, you may have an issue with the antenna/receiver unit in the phone. Apple should be able to verify the issue.

Iphone4 ringer only rings 4 times before going to voice mail. How can I get it to ring more times?

It is your carrier, call them because it is actually ringing more times but it is taking longer for the signal to make it to your phone, what I would do is ask your provider to take you off and put you back on the network it is called provisioning... an improper provisioning or low signal OR even an iphone not meant for that network due to it being an unlocked or international version on a different carrier therefore it cannot catch all the frequencies. the Iphone 4 is getting old anyway so you may not be getting as many frequencies as you could be. 4 rings is a network thing, not a setting in the phone... it isn't like a fax machine where you set rings... sorry for the bad news.

I updated my iphone 3gs version 4.0.1 to 4.2.1 now it's not working. I do believe it was jailbroken and unlocked before and the newly installed version is tethered. it would not recognize my sim since it...

You cannot upgrade a hacktivated iPhone to the current version of iOS as it has not yet been cracked to work on other carriers. You will need to put your phone in recovery mode (by connecting it to your PC, then turning it off, and then holding down Home and Sleep until iTunes tells you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode), then restore the iPhone to 4.0.1 and then re-jailbreak/hacktivate.
