Question about Insignia IS-LCDTV32 32 in. Television

1 Answer

I have a Polaroid tv. My cable company came out today and updated me w/ digital tv and dvr. Things were fine when the tech was here and afterwards I watched a dvd and when I switched the input back to the cable, it keeps saying "no signal." I have tried all the differnet inputs and changed the channels and still no luck.

Check the back of your TV. Your cable is probably hooked into a Composite or HDMI input, I doubt they would install it directly to the TV's tuner, these days thats reserved for local antenna's.

You are correct. I feel your pain. This will not work.

HDMI is a pure digital signal and the providers require the content coming over the Dish DVR to be COPY PROTECTED. So it will not work unless the HDMI cable goes directly from the DVR to the TV. This is to stop people from being able to make their own recordings of Dish shows, or making copies of your DVR recordings. If you really want to run things through your reciver, you're going to have to use the "component" or "composite" video feeds, not the HDMI. Sorry.

Most likelly it is your DVR that has a problem. Their are a lot of issues with those DVR's from the cable or satellite companies. I would recomend swapping it out.

I have run into this issue alot. I believe its because of a older version of HDMI 1.1. Quick solution is to hookup the cable box with component cables(yprpb) to utilize the HD picture still and then do some research to see if Mitsubishi has a firmware update on your particular model.

Poor signal. Check connections at all Coaxial connectors. Should be tightened. Unplug a/c from rear of DVR for 30 seconds. Allow time for DVR to reboot and update. Try again. If not resolved, call tech support for your cable company. May have to boost your signal.

Sony kdl-40v5100 has handshake problem

1.This issue sounds as though the TV connection circuit has an issue.
2. You have changed the DVR and the HDMI cables and you still have an issue with the video (pink screen) indicates a video circuit issue ( improper voltage or current) at the video section of the circuit.
3. This will require some troubleshooting by a qualified tech.
4. To make sure, try connecting another properly working LCD TV to the cable box or DVR an check. If you get a picture and sound properly it is the TV.
5. Usually a cable box is QA'd (quality assured) by the company and will not be sent unless tested 1st

TV Guide will not update

The problem is not with your machine. TVGOS information is embeded in part of the a PBS analog signal. With the covnversion to digital, some PBS stations are not sending this data out anymore. Also, some cable companies are not converting the digital signals to be sent out on the old 125 analog channels.

If you try to chase this down with the Cable Companies or PBS techs, you will get; blank stares, help desk happy voices, it's not our problem, we don't support TVGOS, etc.

Personally, I think that the digital transition has killed TVGOS. It ain't comin bak, no more, no more.

Start looking for a replacement DVR that is easy to program.

No, wait, try to find one! Blue Ray along with Cable Company & Dish Network, etc. DVR's have killed the market for a stand-alone DVR's.

But there s always TIVO $$$

HDMI inputs stopped working

I had the same problem with the HDMI connected to my HD cable box DVR. We called the cable company and he changed the box and the problem remained. He said there was something wrong with my TV.  The component (5-wire) jacks on input 5 work fine.  A few months later i got the 'green tint" problem and the tech came out to replace the whole optical box.  I asked about the HDMI problem and he said that the Sony protocol for HDMI is the problem. It will "talk" to some hardware and not others. He has not found a fix, except to use the other A/V inputs and abandon the HDMI (#7) input.

Recorder is not showing tv listings

I spoke with Toshiba tech support today (800-631-3811). They have an advanced services team that focuses on TV Guide On Screen. Learned the following:

- The TV Guide On Screen signal is updated 4x / day and is broadcast by your service provider
- The broadcast channel varies depending on what the service provider chooses (though typically a major network or PBS station)
- TV Guide On Screen has been doing some reprogramming and updates recently and this has resulted in many sporadic outages

If you ARE not receiving your listings, it's one of two things - either your DVR or the signal from the cable company.

- If you are having issues, call Toshiba and let them know, they will walk through some basic troubleshooting to narrow down if the problem is the DVR or the TV Guide On Screen signal.
- If the issue is the TV Guide On Screen signal, they will be able to report the issue to TV Guide On Screen and let them know their is an issue.

After that - it's in someone else's hands!
