Fluid in len leaks out

My husband take off the back part of our Sony projection tv to clean. He took off the mirror and then the red len. Once the len be taken off, fluid came out. Is there any danger for keeping to use the tv and is there anything we have to do to fix the leakage (he clean up the leakage though, but the fluid once been under the len is gone )?

Hello grace11112,

First I have to say that the fluid is what keeps the tube cool, if you use the TV without replacing the fluid, the tube will eventually burn out. Now the fluid has to be replaced, I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician do this. The fix for this problem is to reinstall the seals on the tube refill the coolant, and reinstall the tube. Coolant can be purchased from the manufacture or from a parts supply store.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

I need to clean mirror

Most rear projection sets the screen will pop off the front. Usually a couple of hidden catches. Get another person for this.
Once off you can clean the mirror but not the inside of the screen.

PIONEER ELITE PRO730HD 64in Red lens lower assmbly losing fluid

You'll need to replace the red CRT . The coolant chamber of the original tube has been compromised. Hopefully, none of the fluid( ethylene glycal) has leaked onto the main chassis of the TV.

Can't see clearly the picture and alot of line

Is it the kind with the green, red, blue tubes? If so just take the back off and clean the mirror and clean the tubes with a lens cleaning cloth, also look down in the tubes with the set on ( BE CAREFUL ) if you see what looks like dirt inside of any of them then the cooling fluid can be changed in them. It is a bacteria ( i think ) that grows in the fluid but no the red color tube. I paid $80 bucks to get the refilled and took the tubes out myself, dont let someone charge you $400 to do the job.

Cleaning mirrors and lenses on Sony big-screen projection TV

it's fairly easy to remove the screws on the back bottom portion of any rear-projector television. when the bottom part is removed, you will see both the mirror and the 3 lens. isopropyl alcohol or windex should do an efficient job. a soft lens rag can be found at any camera store. i'd spray the lens rag instead of the actual lens or mirror when doing this job.

Red and Blue Shadows

There is no alignment of the lens because the optical lens is fixed. If he removed the lcd panels then there may be a problem. You may want to check to make sure there is nothing on top of the optical lens or the mirror inside the mirror block assy wasn't damaged. If he damged the optical block or lcd panels then an optical block may need to be replaced. Very costly. Good Luck

Maintanence question obout my Sony rear projection.

i,m not a tech but i,ve been told by a techinican that those tubes do have fluid and it,s not an easy fix to change the fluid i was told the tube has to be removed and a tech told me it would run around 200.00 by the time the tech removes it puts the fluid back in and reinstalls it and after it,s reinstalled the convergance has to be reset that,s what realigns the colors back to their correct position and i,ve heard this isn,t an easy job so i,d probably get a techinican to fix it but that,s up to you someone might have an easier opinion but the tech i talked to is one of the best thanks and maybe you can help me i have a blue tube on my big screen tv that wont light upcould you give me some insite as to what you know about a projection light that you said that may need changed think that may be my problem your welcomed to call me about this at 270-566-4327 anytime soon as possible thanks
