Question about Honeywell Electronic Programmable Heat/Cool Thermostat - CT3300A100 Heater

1 Answer

TB8220U Commercial Thermostat keeps running when temp is right

I have a heat pump that runs pretty much all the time even when the inside temp is were it should be. When i check the temp of the air coming out its about the same as the inside temp. Shouldn't the entire thing shut off if its set to 66 and its 66 on the screen. The temp does not raise above what its set to but does not shut off very often when the temp is the same.

The temp coming out of the vent should be 20 to 25 deg more then room temp and if AUX heat kicks in the temp should be even more.

Heat pump not keeping up to set temperature on thermostat but never drops below 63 degrees whens its 20 degrees outside.

It may be getting low on refrigerant due to a small leak. I'd have it serviced soon. When running at less than peak efficiency it will much more often switch on the heat strips and they are not cheap to operate.

where is the thermostat located? i should be on a inside wall in a comon room and not around lights, computer or heat vent or air return. a thermostat is just a switch and will operate in its enviroment. does the fan cycle off before the heat starts blowing again? the fan on these are on a timer that the t stat will have to "brake" open on reaching temp to shut off. not knowing where your at look this over and i hope it helps. i dont think i would let someone sell me a control board for this problem.

My honeywell Thermostat reaches the heating temp. but the fan will not stop running. And yes the fan is set to auto.It just keeps running and running and running. It stays the same temp but will not shut off...

I want to give a simple explanation before I go any further. On the heating side of a unit even though tthe temp has satisfied the thermostat, the fan will run until it cools down the plenum where the air flows from the air handler. There is a bimetal switch called a fan limit that operates the blower when the plenum reaches the temp set on the fan limit switch. Now if your fan keeps running even after the plenum chamber has cooled down, then you could have a fan limit switch that is stuck in the run position and must be replaced in order to correct the problem.

With my thermostat on auto and on heat, and the furnace turns on, the fan will not turn on with it. If I switch the fan to on it will run after I repeat back and forth from auto to fan on several times...

Well, here is the deal: unless you rewired from two wire to multiple (usually 4 to 10 wires) wires, the fan cannot be controlled from the thermostat, even though the thermostat indicates that it can > it is a physical wiring and fan administration issue.

Unless you have a newer furnace, the fan is controlled by plenum temp. Works like this: burner turns on, no fan until the plenum temp reaches set temp,....then burner off, and fan keeps running until pelnum temp drops, and often the fan may kick on a few more times as this temp depletes.

Did you keep notes or remember all the stat wires and terminals? 20kw should heat your home very well. Has the unit heated the house good after you changed the thermostat?
