I can not get the suction to stick to the windshield, or to the plastic dash pad. I've trying wetting, drying, cleaning. I've held it tight, loose and in between while rotating the dial. I can see the action when holding it up, still no attachment

The soft vinyl suction cup has two ears. Behind the ears are two depressions in the mount ring. The vinyl shapes itself into the depressions and forms two tiny gaps when you try to stick it to the windshield.

Place a pencil or other small round object between the ring and the soft vinyl part. Bend the vinyl outward. You may not be able to see the difference, but it should now stick

Check out this link...It's a movie of how the EasyPort is supposed to work...looks like the key is turning the ring on the back of the suction cup clockwise while kissed up to the glass

It won't stick!! No kidding!! They drop all the time after a little bump or a turn!! We found the best solution for this problem. We use a new product, so called "SlapOn" space age adhesive on the dashboard and just throw our GPS directly on it, and it sticks and stays!! Basically, you can throw a lot of other things on it, too, like iphone, cell phone, or lighters. It can be removed anywhere on the flat surfaces, reused hundreds of times and against the water and UV under extreme weahters. Forget about the suction cup!! It never works in my bathroom or anywhere for too long anyway!!! Or, you can use SlapOn on the back of the suction cup to stick on the windshield. That's the only way that can help the suction cup that won't **** stay...... Look at the picture attached. SlapOn is basically just a piece of very strong and weird vinyl adhesive, and the cell phone sticks to it. It doesn't stick on my hand, but it just stays. dlcraig@comcast.net

I had the same problem and fixed it by running a letter opener around the suction cup where it is glued to plastic. After that while push hardturn the dial clock wise about halfay though the turn push down on the two ears and finish the turn.

I had the same issue out of the box.

  1. If you first press it against the glass, then first rotate the the dial counter clockwise first, the suction cup "grabs" the glass and you'll feel friction,
  2. then turn the dial clockwise as normal to lock it. Mine holds after this procedure.
Note: on the counter clockwise turn, do not turn too far (only a few degrees as you feel the friction) and definitely no farther if you hear a click, otherwise you will disassemble it (like I did) and you'll spend 15 minutes figuring out how to put it back together. If you do disassemble by accident, put the spring in the center and align the three start threads, but offset the start by one thread groove so that when assembled the slot in the dial aligns around the mounting/pivot arm.

Do i use both the hard plastic adhesive disc or just the one that holds the tomtom to fix onto windscreen.Mike.

The disc is for attaching your unit to the dash. On the glass, you just need to stick the mount to it. Make sure the glass is perfectly clean or the mount and GO720 will eventually fall off. Also the oem mount is just a general pain at best. I went with an aftermarket mount to eliminate the problem.

TomTom EayPort mount will not stick to anything!

You will have to buy a new suction. After being in the hot car, and after suctioning up and taking down it will lose it stickingness.

Unsure how to mount tomtom on car windshield

I was perplexed by the lack of instruction as well. However, I took the unit to my car and realized that the black disk is not needed for mounting the unit to the windshield. If you look carefully at the bumpy plastic ring just above the suction area, there are two little pictures on the back of a lock; one open and one closed. With the ring in the open position, push it against the windshield and turn it to the closed position. It then sticks to the glass very well. I now just snap the unit in and out of the mounting ring that I leave stuck to the glass. I hope this helps. I assume that the presence of the black disk is to bring people closer together with digital communication.

Broke screen while trying to fix to windscreen

Are you talking about the easyport mount on the XL 330S model? If so it applies fairly easily in a secure snap. When I tested out the new mount, it was fairly easy to snap on without any added pressure. TomTom has great customer service and I'm sure they'll help out to the best of their ability and if it was in fact defective, you're bound to get a replacement. TomTom doesn't want any unhappy consumers. It's a shame it broke, because it is actually a great device.
