You will have to replace the switch, Takeout the 4 screws on the back of the handle, it will slide off, then from the front, take out the 4 screws that hold the tool compartment on, it will then lift off and you can access the switch.

Is it safe to use Hoover wind tunnel vacuum by turning on and off by plugging and unplugging? Switch is locked into position and won't move. I have been using it that way. Toni

It's not so much a matter of safety as wearing the motor out quicker. Normally the switch that comes with it smooths the rough edges and surges out of the current. By just plugging and unplugging it to turn on and off, you are exposing it to a surge that will shorten the motor life.

My hoover wind tunnel just quit while vacuuming. It is dead??? Two years old used about every other week? Any suggestions?

Some Wind Tunnels by Hoover have a poor design in the switch on the handle. Sometimes the switch does not turn on all the way and will stop running. Other times you can't turn the unit off.

My new Hoover Wind Tunnel Upright UH50000 will not turn off unless I unplug it.

First I would be sure the handle was properly installed. Remove the two screws holding the upper handle in place and tap it bacwards to remove it. Set the switch inside to the OFF position. Next set both buttons on the handle to the OFF position and re-install the upper handle. If the switch still does not turn the vacuum on and off, the switch will need replacement.

How do you change the Hoover wind tunnel belts?

If you turn the vacuum over there will be (4) screws that hold on the base cover for the roller brush. Remove the screws and the cover and you can get to the belt(s). You can get replacement belts here:

Wont shut Off

its the power switch, hoover has had that problem for years. I'd take it to a vac repair shop, sometimes the wires that connect to the switch get burnt as well and should be replaced.

Hoover Wind Tunnel does not turn on

that is a pretty good lifespan for a hoover, but its probably the power switch that's bad. Hoover uses a very poor quality switch. It shouldn't cost to much to have it replaced

Hoover Wind Tunnel bagless- issue with turning on

Have you tried to plug the vaccuum in another outlet that is on another breaker? It could be the vaccuum tripped the breaker. Turn the breaker back on. The manual mentions the thermal protector could have been activated. If this happened it resets and your vac should run after 30 minutes. I have a Widepath Tempo and it has tripped the surge protector. If this is the problem try turning some things off that are also on that breaker/outlet, or unplug them when you use the vac.
