SOURCE: plastic melted on Dishwasher heating element

youll have to run a whole cycle again and pay attention to when the heating element comes on again. Once its hot the plastic will be soft enough to remove it with a tight cotton rag. Use you oven mitts for protection. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Whirlpool 24" built-in GU1200XTLBO dishwasher electrical smell

This may be the smell of Varnish used in motor winding. When we turn on the machine it gets heated a little bit resulting in a burning electrical smell.

SOURCE: Miele G661 Dishwasher heating element

Loosen element-retaining bolt plus clips in dishwash chamber. Upend machine and take base off (held by four crosshead screws). Disconnect spade connectors from end of element and gently tap/push old rubber block through. Element will drop out with retaining rubber.

SOURCE: Miele dishwasher not heating

you would have to turn the unit on it's side and remove the bottom plate and check with a multi meter the resistance of the heating element to see if the heating element is defective. i doubt the dishwashing liquid caused a fault other than causing the unit to over sud and spill water into the base. You could remove the panel under the door and have a look and see if you have flooded the base. if you have a float switch in the base (white polystyrene disc and switch) this will stop the unit from working as well. dry up any water and try it again. hope this helps and don't use the dishwashing liquid in the unit.

Is this normal for Miele dishwasher? - some water left below filter and not everything dry after cycle

Plastic items do not get dry because they do not get as hot as glassware. A lot of moisture inside is do to the evaporation of water on the dishes during the dry cycle. Some water remains in the dishwasher because it is impossible to pump all of it out. There is nothing wrong with your dishwasher.

A plastic lid melted on the coil, still smells like "melted wax", seems clean, what can I do?

You will probably have to replace the heating coil in the bottom of the dishwasher to get rid of the smell. The coils aren't that expensive and replacing them is an easy job. Hardest part is getting the dishwasher out from under the counter to do it.

Everytime I start my whirpool dishwasher it smells like smoke. If left on for a while a burning smell and steamy smoke come out when I open the door

I would check your heating element to make sure it is clean of plastic on some label that is against it some type of paper or what have you this element heats just like a oven and can burn objects on it or touching it.If you see a spot clean it very gently until that it all is the same color use a scruff pad sponge to use for removal of the spot in question. Remember to rate my solution and give testimonial this is how i earn achievements here on FixYa Thanks in advance.

Our dishwasher started smelling like something is burning, I turned it off straight away, no visible smoke or anything but it hasn't been cleaning very well for a while now. Are these the death throes? Or...

Make sure there isn't any plastic on the heating element. Also check to see if there is any evidence of previously melted plastic. If it smells like plastic burning & you aren't using any heated options, cut the power & call for service.

You would probably need a whole new motor but the nwith the smell of plastic you may also have a burn hole in the tub. Your best bet is to replace the whole thing. Sorry

My Miele dishwasher does not get the plastic refridgerator items dry

Hello Zipmap0202,
I have never found that plastic dries very well in my Miele dishwasher as well.
Check your rinse aid indicator to see if it is on. Next to the soap door there is a door you can add rinse aid to. There is also a dispensing control knob that allows you to turn the amount of rinse aid dispensed up or down. Try changing the setting and see how that works. I have done this and it has not worked well for me. I find opening the door after the cycle is done (Just cracking) it will dry plastic alot better

Water leaking from under the machine (Miele G638 Plus) dishwasher

The salt tank is a pathetic piece of ****. The plastic cracks and leaks into the bottom tray, which in turn sets off the safety switch.
Follow the attaching hoses and bypass the salt tank unless you really need it. This will save you around $250 for a salt tank and $300 labour for callout and repair.

be getting hot causing the smell, if the motor is'nt overheating, then call the local repair man, we live in miami(florida), and we have a dish washer that keeps on rumbling, we are getting it fixed today, the only big big problem is it seems to draw alot of electricity when in operation, so there's my problem
p.s. is your dishwasher also rumbling and drawing electricity?
