Question about MSI K8MM-ILSR Motherboard
I try to install 2 X 1GB PC3200 184 PIN 400 MHZ DDR RAM on a K8MM-ILSR (MS-6741) motherboard http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8MM-ILSR . When I start the computer nothing happens. I have flash the AMI BIOS to version 3.7.
Hi, never install 2 pieces of DIMM, not even CORSAIR XMS 3200XL 2x512MB 2-2-2-5 does boot up at DDR400 (!?)
reason: K8MM-ILSR and K8T800-ILSR M-ATX boards will clock RAM down to DDR 333 (even with a latest VENICE revision S754 CPU) which seems unlucky RAM clock to CPU ratio. Board freezes and hangs. I suggest to install only 1x 1GB PC3200. I can recommend KIT (but use only 1 !):
OCZ 2GB DDR400 2x1024MB PC3200 2-3-2-5 Platinum
G.SKILL DDR400 2x 1GB F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX 2-3-2-5 (blue green colored heatsink) Hope this helps, rainer N.
