I get a warning message telling me my handheld memory is full.
If you get a message saying that your handheld’s memory is full, go to the Applications view, open
the menus and go to Info in the App menu. Check the amount of memory that is available.
If there is less than 2M of free space available, try the following:
• If you have installed additional applications on your handheld, remove them to recover memory.
• Purge items from Calendar and Tasks. This deletes Tasks items and past Calendar events from
the memory of your handheld.
• Delete unused memos, photos, and other items, or save them to an expansion card.
If there is more than 2M of free space available, the problem may be caused by too many files.
Your handheld has a 500 file limit that can be reached by storing a large number of small files on
your handheld. Try the following:
• Check the number of documents and other files you have stored on your handheld. If there are a
large number, transfer some of the files to an expansion card or your computer.
• Check the number of files created by any third-party application you have installed on your
handheld. Some third-party applications create a large number of small files to store data.
Remove the third-party application or remove some of the data files in the application. For more
information, go to www.palmOne.com/support.

This is what i got from palm support tech.

You get this error message when there is conflict between the third party software on the device ,or if the third party software are not supported by the device you get this message .
ultimate solution is to do hard reset and rename the back up folders so that you may not face the sane issue .

You most likely need a new firmware upgrade to get it to work like normal.

Make sure you have over 25% remaining space on your HandHeld and try again. Otherwise try a hard reset: Hold down the power button and click the reset button.

anytime you get fatal alerts you have to do more than just push the reset button. You will have to do a soft reset or possibly a hard reset,(usually the soft reset works) Google it and you will find it is quite simple to do

We prayed and asked God to save the data even though we had to do a hard reset. Data was preserved entirely! For this we give thanks--and praise.

Thoroughly flush (delete) documents to go using the tool below and then reinstall.
Worked for me two times over the past two years when my E2 has gotten sick.

Unable to hotsync with my computer

Also, if you have a new Tungsten E2 and there is no important data, I would hard reset it and then when you sync it, select the old profile of the previous Palm to see if that works.

The new Palm you have, is it a Tungsten E2 as well?

The profiles don't always carry over between different models.
