Without the printer disk, you won't be able to install the device to your computer. In other words, your computer won't be able to register it as a printing device. You will need to call the manufacturer and buy a new disk. You might be able to find the installation disk online, but I would be careful with that approach.
if you buy a new mother board your motherboard might be needed to reformat sometimes, this is because of the drivers that are installed already in your hard disk...if you are able to login to your computer then go to control panel and remove old drivers and install new drivers... in this case you will be needed to format your hard drive...
Click to start button and open the window of control panel. From control panel select printer and faxes . Under the printer tasks select add a printer and it will being watched a dialogue box. Click to next. Attach the printer to the CPU and select local printer attached with the CPU and click next. To install printer click next. Select needed port to install printer and then click next. Select your printer HP Deskjet. Then it will automatically installed.
just do as it says and insert the disk and press any key or reboot computer and follow the instructions. your opperating system has some errors and hopefully you can repair without loosing all your info. it's at times like these that the need for regular backup is important
verify your bios settings with regards to what the pc is expecting in way of hard drive.
Do you have the luxury of another hard drive that you can try on this pc ? - this will 'suggest' where the problem rests.
Make sure the lead is fully located on the back of hard drive.
If possible - change the lead for a 'known working' lead (Maybe from the computer that your hard drive was recognized in)
Ok, connect the printer to the computer, put in paper and the toner, turn the printer on, and if your computer is Windows, click START>SETTINGS>PRINTERS AND FAXES>ADD PRINTER
Go through the wizards to install the printer.
Or if you have the HP install disk, hook up and power on the printer, put the install disk in, and go through the install routine.
