Question about Intel DG31PR Motherboard

1 Answer

DG31PR Won't Boot

Equipment is as follows:
MB: Intel DG31PR brand new
CPU: Intel E2200 2.2GHz brand new
RAM: Two Adata 512MB PC800 DDR2 DIMMS
PSU: Antec BP500U 500 watt
HDD: Sata 500GB not sure of the brand
Video: NVIDA GeForce 7300GT

Problem:
My computer died and wouldn't boot. I replaced the PSU but had same problem. I replaced the MB, CPU, and CPU fan but still get same problem. When I switch the computer on the 5v SB_PWR (standby power) LED comes on, but nothing else. I can see one of my fans twitch but that's it. Nothing else happens. I have tested both the old and new power supplies and both work. I have tested the case switch and it is working properly. I'm assuming it is the MB but what are the odds of the old one being going bad and the new one DOA? Also, if the MB was bad would that standby power LED light up? Thanks for the help?

Whenever i start my system, it is taking much time to start, mine is windows xp2 o.s. and D945GCL drivers. pls solve the problem

Hi, you can download drivers from here:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%c2%ae+945+Express+Chipset+Family+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Desktop+Board+D945GCL

My guess is that you have to add more memory to your system
look for this type of ram:

  • 1.8 V (only) DDR2 RAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
  • Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported.
  • 4 GB maximum total system memory
  • Minimum total system memory: 128 MB
  • Non-ECC DIMMs
  • Serial Presence Detect
  • DDR2 667, DDR2 533 or DDR2 400 MHz RAM DIMMs
Hope this will help you to tune up your system.

Hi I have intel motherboard D945GCNL with Dynet 1 GB ram installed. I boght a new Dynet 1gb ram and installed it. After that, my cpu began beeping. So I removed the ram and interchanged the rams.It doesn't...

Your RAM needs to be:

  • DDR2 667, DDR2 533 or DDR2 400 MHz SDRAM DIMMs
  • Non-ECC DIMMs
  • 2 GB maximum total system memory
  • Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported

  • Make sure the New RAM is not bad.

Ensure that the new RAM is the same type as your old one (DDR2 XXX)

Install the old one back and make sure that your PC works.

If it does, Take the Old RAM out and install the New RAM in the same slot as the old one.

If the PC does not work with the new one, It is more than likely a bad stick of RAM

    Hope this helps

Max RAM for Intel 102 GGC motherboard

Thanks to Intel website The board has two 240-pin DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features: * 1.8 V (only) DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts * Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported. * 2 GB maximum total system memory * Minimum total system memory: 128 MB * Non-ECC DIMMs * Serial Presence Detect * DDR2 533 or DDR2 400 SDRAM DIMMs Note To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance. If non-SPD memory is installed, the BIOS will attempt to correctly configure the memory settings, but performance and reliability may be impacted or the DIMMs may not function under the determined frequency.
