I currently have an issue with scanning to my PC, on the printer detailed Below

I keep getting the message "the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the "Scan" disk and click OK" and then other messages appears "Error 1706 not valid source could be found for product scan the windows installer cannot continue" and "the path "1" cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package "Scan.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product Scan" After sever attempts of clicking the OK buttons to each of these messgaes the scanning does take place, but in the couple of years I've had the printer I've had no real issues before and just wondering why now this is happening. I recently deleted a number of old files and was wondering if I inadvertently removed this scanning this HP Scanning one in error. I am struggling to locate the HP disc that the error messages refer to. Can you please advise how I can overcome this Regards Ian Willson Mobile 07766396233 (based in the UK)

SOURCE: I have a HP Photosmart

Hi Helen,

I will walk you through a scan process and you can tell me after if it works properly that way or not.
For this, I'm going to assume you have a windows system.

Turn on the computer and printer.
Click on START
Then SETTINGS
Then CONTROL PANEL
Then SCANNERS AND CAMERAS
Then click on your printer Hewlett Packard C5380 in that list.

When the SCANNER WIZARD comes up, just click on NEXT.

Place a photo or something face down on the scanner tray to be scanned.
You can adjust some of the PICTURE TYPE or CUSTOM SETTINGS if you want, but for this run it's best to just keep it simple and leave the default settings (Colour picture - 150 DPI).

Now click on PREVIEW, and wait for the scanner to do a quick preview of the item.
When the preview comes up, adjust the size of the preview box by dragging the corners to make it just a bit larger than the item you are scanning.

Now click on NEXT, and then fill in the file options on the ensuing page.
Choose a name for the folder the image will go in (not important).
Select a file format (JPG - JPEG Image is standard).
Then just select a place in your directory for the pic (right on the DESKTOP would be easiest).

Then click NEXT.
The scanner should now be executing the complete scan of the item.

Now click on the option NOTHING I'M FINISHED WORKING WITH THESE PICTURES.
Then click the FINISH button.

The folder should then automatically open up and show your scanned image.
If it doesn't, just click on the image icon wherever you saved the image to.

Then just comment back here to this page and let me know if the results were any different from your attempts, and I will respond as soon as I see it.

Thank you very much.

Joe.

SOURCE: my printer will not print.

Hi there, regarding with the problem that you have..the error message that you are encountering with that machine is something about to work on with the printhead..because the printhead is the one causing the problem why is that the error message keeps on popping up, i believed that the printer model that you have is already out of warranty..the printhead is not replaceable if the printer is out of warranty.. well in that case, quite frankly the printer is already faulty.
you can definitely call HP by dialing this number 1-800-474-6836 and let them see what they can do in their end..
Thanks!

I keep getting this message every time I want to scan something to my computer. "Scan Problem: Try Starting scan from computer. Refer to documentation for details."

Go to printers and Faxes in Control Panel Right Click the Printer, Select Properties Select Ports from the top tabs and make sure "Enable Bi-Directional Support" is selected.
Also check the HP ImageZone software settings to make sure the computer knows what to do when you scan directly.
This message is usually caused because the printer can not talk to the PC or does not know what to do with the scan.

When I try to scan with my 2710, I get a message select computer, then you need to run or install hp software for this feature. What do I do?

If this is from the front panel of the printer, the device is not recognizing that the front panel destination list is set up that can be done from the device software
if you are trying to scan from the pc and getting the message this is a communication issue and the easiest solution is to actually uninstall the software and re install

HP Scanner will not scan??

Sounds like a driver problem.

I would uninstall the drivers and reinstall them. Be sure to keep the scanner disconnected from the computer until the software prompts you to plug it in.

Afterwards I would go to the HP site and download the updated drivers.

Scanner not working

Hi Jkey !

As per the information you have provided, I understand that you are receiving an error "No scan option refer to the documentation" on the printer, when you try to print from the front panel of the printer (I mean from the printer's side).

However, plz provide me the proper error message so that I can assist you in the best possible way. If you are unable to scan from the printer's side, then try to scan from the computer and check if it is working or not. It should work when you try to scan from the computer, if not there may be a communication issue between the two devices.

To check the communication perform the below steps:

IF the printer is connected via USB cable, then perform below steps:
Useful scripts For Windows XP:

To isolate the issue I suggest you to try scanning from the Windows Image acquisition(WIA) wizard on the computer.

Follow the below steps to Scan using WIA
1.Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.

2.Click Start then Click All Programs then Click Accessories then Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.

3.Follow the Scanner and Camera Wizard instructions to scan images to the computer.

If you are able to scan fine using the above steps, please write back to me along with the exact error message.

With Regards
Mike.

The scanner dont work in my HP officejet 5610 all in one

This is a known issue with HP printers. Do not worry, if you get this message that the scanning software could not be found the please go to the link
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=441125&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=0&submit.x=0&lang=en&cc=us

Select the Operating System.
From the list select. ... HP Full Feature Software and Drivers

Then scroll down to the 3rd option......
Click on Download only >> Save the file to the desktop.
Start installation and make sure that the Printer is not connected using the USB cable to the computer.

While installing, you will get the option to connect the printer. Do not connect the printer.
Select the option "I will connect it later". Go next the installation will be complete.

After the installation is complete...leave the CD inside the computer.

Connect the computer and the printer.
It will show you the configuration window.
Wait until you see the "Start using the device" option.
Click on "Start using the device".
You should see the solution center window now.

If it is succesfull. Try scanning using the Solution center.
If it is succesfull, you can now scan using the printer as well.

Try it and let me know if it works and please let me know your issue in detail.

"Cannot Connect tp PC."-Scanner help!!-~~

XP?

Are you trying to use the scanner by the pressing of the SCAN button? cause I'm afraid that feature is no longer supported in the all in one drivers now provided for that machine by HP. You can scan but it must be done via XP's inbuilt features there is a link below to explain XP procedures now required to scan.

How to scan

They also do not provide Original Character Reconignition software but see this link on YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE OCR SOFTWARE

or if you don't you could try this free OCR program

oh and there is no facility to use the Auto Doc. Feeder on scanning any more.
