That means that the camcorder is finalising a recovery.

Insert the original disk or an empty disk into the camcorder.

Go to setup menu. and perform a factory restore.

Hi there
Hold the on/off button until it goes off, then turn it on again, if you get the same message there was a power failure or the AC plug was disconnected while the power was on. The unit
is carrying out its recovery process. Wait until the message disappears

Good luck

Http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRE50.PDF - Manual

That error is usually from a dirty disc or incompatible media.

However - direct from the manual:

RECOVER ≥There was a power failure or the AC plug was disconnected while the power was on. The unit
is carrying out its recovery process. Wait until the message disappears.

Turn it on and wait it out.

    Reset the unit as follows:

1.Press [í, DVD POWER] to switch the unit to standby.

If the unit doesn’t switch to standby, press and hold [í, DVD POWER] for about 10 seconds.

The unit is forcibly switched to standby.

Alternatively, disconnect the AC power supply cord, wait one minute, then reconnect it.

2.Press [í, DVD POWER] to turn the unit on.

1) Press and keep [POWER] button on the unit for more than 10 seconds to turn off the power of the unit.

2) Unplug power cord and wait for approx. 1 minute

3) Plug power cord in.

4) The display shows [RECOVER] or [SELF CHECK] and it becomes under recovery. Wait till the message on display disappears.

*When the unit does not recover after taking above procedures (1 to 4), it is needed to be checked and repaired.

Hi don phyllis

Do a soft reset of the recorder by holding the power button for 10 seconds. This should fix the problem, if not let me know

I would suggest if the unit is not under warranty to take the unit apart and take the dvd out manually. and than turn the unit back on and see if the dvd made the dvd player act up.

It probably doesn't like that media you put in.

≥The unit cannot record on the disc you inserted. Insert a DVD-RAM or unfinalized DVD-R.
≥You inserted an unformatted DVD-RAM. Format the disc with this unit.
≥The write-protect tab on the cartridge is set to PROTECT.
Use a ballpoint pen or similar to release the write protection.
≥You tried to play a disc with a region number different from this unit’s region number. This unit
can only play discs with the region numbers compatible with this unit (1, All, or including the
    number 1).

F60 ERROR CODE ON PANASONIC DMR-ES40V

Unplug the unit for 24-hours. I know, it should not take that long, but in this case I tried shorter periods WITHOUT success!

Just before plugging in unit depress and hold POWER button. You are supposed to hold it for 30-seconds after plugging in, but in my case I did it for 60-seconds. This results in a MASTER RESET that clears all errors, resets interlocks, etc. I could not get past a DVD failure problem, but when I discovered this process everything worked fine!!

Good luck! Hope it works for you too.

Disc won't eject, stays in "RECOVER" mode

look on the face of the machine, near the dvd slot. what you are looking for is a tiny hole, the size of a pencil lead. some players, not all, have this manual release. If you are fortunate enough to have one of these little holes straighten out a small paper clip and use it as a wire to insert in the hole and release your dvd.

Self check for over an hour

While the unit is switched off, Jim, press and hold the STOP and Channel Up buttons (BLACK SQUARE and CH/\) on the unit (NOT the remote) for 5-10 seconds and your disk should eject.

Good luck!

DVD Tray will not open

I purchased this unit back in Mid November to make DVD's of my kids old VHS tapes. To date I have probably have made 400 DVD's. Sunday we came home from being gone all day and the unit was locked up. I tried the reset button, unplugged the unit etc to no avail. I unplugged the unit all Sunday night and looked at it again on Monday morning. I was ready to take the unit back to Best Buy and the unit ejected the DVD and has worked for 2 days (Recorded another dozen DVD's). Tonight while reading the paper a message came on my monitor that there was a problem with the disk and instructed me to push the "enter" button which shut the unit off and was suppose to recover the disc. The recorder is now locked up again. A number of 000000's flashes accross the display and the unit constantly cycles off/on. So it is trying to recover but is obviously not being successful. I am going to try the same thing tonight. I am not sure if I have a bad set of blank DVD's. They are Sony -DVD R, same ones I have been using all along. I do remember having this "Error" message when I first started this project and I had to unplug the unit to resolve but it didn't lock up and I haven't had any issues until Sunday. Seems like something in the software is screwed up. It is frustrating that there doesn't seem to be a manual way to eject the disk??!!

DISC WILL NOT EJECT

Don't know if this will work for you, but I unplugged the player then plugged it back in again whlie holding down the power button. The player did not power up until I released the power button and pressed it again. That did it.

Was this DVD blank? I'd try another DVD that is DVD-R or DVD-RAM. I don't think DVD+Rs are compatible with this unit.

Endless loop

Mine did this (on a Ram disk) but I was able to push eject before the dvd tried to read the disk. I had unplugged it overnight, then once plugged back in immediately pushed eject. Once the disk was out it stopped going into recovery mode.
Hope it helps. Good Luck.
