I have a coleman that has sat for a while, what do you mean it has to be flashed?

Flashing is only done of the residual magnetism has been lost in the rotor, if it has gone it cannot generate any power in the stator for voltage or in some units to keep them running. Flashing is best done by someone who understands generators, and involves in directly connect a DC source to the rotor for a few seconds to re-vuild the magnetism

Where can i purchase a regulator for the coleman powermate 11000 generator

There are many sources for parts for your generator. Remove the regulator and try to id the part number (these parts go thru many evolutions, however look very much the same, use numbers on the part itself as guide). These parts are available from http://www.jackssmallengines.com/coleman_control_board.cfm, or from www.partsfortechs.com and from ebay. Shop for the best price and warranty (some suppliers do not warranty electronic parts). Good luck

My powermate 6250 only runs with the choke fully open. Purchased used any help anyone?

Damned FixYa ate most of a detailed post.

If Briggs & Stratton, it will likely have two adjustment screws on the carburetor. One is for low speed, the other for full load.

Take note of how far you turn them so can return them if needed.

From your description, using the choke normally means the engine is starved for fuel so backing off the mix screw might cure it.

If not, then likely one of the jets is fouled so you will have to remove the screw(s), counting the turns as you do.

Clean the seats with carburetor cleaner (auto parts store or Walmart) and replace the screws.

They may still need adjustment after reinstalling.

What brand of engine & horsepower is it?Also about how long was it stored or last time it was run? The reason I ask is if it was stored with gas in it & a fuel stabilizer wasn't added to it,your primary jet is plugged in the carburetor(reason it will only run while choked).

Engine speed varies

If the unit was stored for a long period of time (6-12 mo.) with gas in it, you may have a gummed up carburator. This is the most common problem with generators (lack of use)
The carb. would have to be removed & cleaned, specificly, the high & low speed jets

Sounds like you need to clean the carb ports, lines, jets, etc... purchase a carb spray cleaner with a tube to place on the spray head (Berryman's Chemtool B-12 is awesome). Take the carb loose from the generator, and remove the bowl, needle valve and spray carb cleaner thru all the holes, lines in the carb. Reinstall complete with air cleaner and retry... also if the gas is old, drain and replace with new...

I found some website help. I have this same problem.

I also found out a lot about the Powermate company via a customer service email reply: This has an elusive customer service number that i have not tried yet.

"
Powermate Corporation is not a part of The Coleman Company, Inc. They have been an independent company for over 10 years and we have no information on their products.

Powermate manufactured generators, pressure washers, air compressors and air powered tools. Information about those products was available from

Powermate Corp.
125 Airport Road
Kearney, NE 68848

Toll Free: 1-800-445-1805 (disconnected)
or 402-758-6303 (disconnected)
Web Page: www.powermate.com

Earlier this year, Powermate transferred the right to sell air compressors and air powered tools to a company by the name of MAT Industries, LLC, 625 Barclay Boulevard, Lincolnshire, IL 60069, 1(800) 628-8815. This company may be able to help you with questions related to air compressors and air powered tools.

In March 2008, Powermate filed for bankruptcy protection. We understand that customer service inquiries to Powermate via emails, mail and telephone calls will not be answered. However, some information about Powermate and its products continues to be available at their website.

If the problem with your unit is with the engine, check the engine manual that came with the unit to determine whether the engine has a separate warranty from the manufacturer. When Coleman was affiliated with Powermate, they did. If so, you can contact the engine manufacturer for a listing of warranty centers in your area. The contact number should be in the engine manual.
