Look at the front of your cd drive and locate a small pinhole (usually located next to the eject button). Place a paperclip into that hole and push it forward. The tray should pop open. Other than that...I'd say it's time for a new drive.

My dvd tray is not ejecting,i cannot insert a cd

CD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

Instructions on how to eject a cd from vostro 1510 ? [email protected]

You can eject a CD in two ways!
1 Simply pressing the button on the right edge of CD drive and drive opens by sliding out
2. Clicking on my computer which shows all the drives C: D: E: etc. C: is hard drive so can not be ejected. Right click on the D or E where ever the CD is and choose eject! That will open the CD drive!
Good luck!

Cd drive wont eject

Try ejecting it through "My Computer". Right click on the drive and select "eject". If you can't locate the drive, then it's probably missing the driver.

Eject does not open

Most hard-drives do *NOT* have an EJECT button.
Most diskette-drives *DO* have an EJECT buttton.
Most CD/DVD-drives *DO* have an EJECT button.

Turn your computer off. Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip, and insert it into the small hole in the front-plate of the CD/DVD drive, until you feel "resistance". Then, push it another 1/4 inch, and the drive-tray should "unlock" and open slightly. Then, gently pull the tray fully-open. Remove any CD/DVD media. Then, replace the CD/DVD drive.

A dvd is stuck in the drive. It resists all attempts at removal including the ''eject cd'' command in Open Firmware. Can I manually remove it?

The iMac (Slot loading) computer's disc eject mechanism is electrical instead of mechanical. To eject a CD-ROM disc at startup that contains system software, press the mouse button until the computer ejects the disc. If the disc does not contain system software, wait for the iMac to start up and drag the disc icon to the Trash.

If either of these steps fails to eject the disc, push the drive's manual eject button with a small, blunt object like a paper clip. This button is located to the right of the CD/DVD slot as shown in Figure 1. The computer must be turned on to eject a disc in this manner.

ht3007_1.gifFigure 1 Manual eject button

Once the disc is ejected, it extends just beyond its center hole so you can remove it from the drive. If the disc fails to eject, while holding in the paper clip, use another CD to gently push against the inserted CD. This gentle pressure may help to release the inserted CD.

Important: After ejecting the disc with the manual eject button, you must restart the iMac in order for the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive to work.
