Question about Rinnai Toyostove Direct Vent Heater: Laser 30 Toyostove Direct Vent Heater Shipping

Do not buy a Toyo in Fairbanks.

Interior Fuels, Cowles and Crowley all sell Toyos but if you have a problem - too bad. They will not come to your home to fix it. They will only help you if you physically disconnect the stove and take it to their shop. They don't tell you that when you buy the stove. Meanwhile your pipes freeze. Would like to know, in Alaska government, who to get involved to stop Toyo from selling through dealers in Alaska unless those dealers are willing to give reasonable service.

You are right. The "service" in Fairbanks for Toyos is almost non-existant. My company has been tuning and servicing Toyos for over 12 years here in Fairbanks. We have tried to get a dealership but the main company, Toyo USA and the regional rep., REE refuse to allow us to be dealers. We have tried several times over the years. We buy parts in bulk from outside sources and pass the savings onto the customer.
A letter to Toyotomi or Toyo USA will not work. They don't care.
There is one person with a van that will "Tune" a toyo in your home. Don't use them. It is not possible to properly service a Toyo in your home. There is fiberglass and creosote dust that will get everywhere weather they use a vacuum or not. That's assuming they even clean your burner pot. Our company was started because of this poor service in this town. We operate by word of mouth only and have about 2 dozen regular customers.

I am a service provider in Fairbanks. I work on the toyo stoves and there waterheaters. I DO TRAVEL. I can do on-site repair, But I bring the unit back to my shop for Full servicing. My advice to anyone is take care of servicing in the months that you don't need heat. Service is due after 600-800 gal. used or 2 years. Please don't wait till it's 40 below, but if you do need me my services are available year round.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your stove. We don't know who you bought your heater from however all Toyotomi dealers must have a service contract or provide service themselves. They don't have to go outside their shop if that's the set up. They should advise customers of this carry in service only method. This would at least make you aware of how they do their service work. There are several dealers in the Fairbanks area that will come to your house and fix your unit. A letter to Toyotomi USA would make them aware of what's happening.

A bigger question on my part would be, did they advise you of the customer rebate program when you bought the heater? Any good dealer should be up front with that infomation as well as explain the warranty program and operation of the unit.

Good luck,

I called Jill at Laser Heating and she is great. She will either work on your stove in your home or take it back to her shop. She came out and cleaned my stove in my home the end of August and she did a wonderful job with no mess. I have to admit that I truly hate my stove it's the top of the line Laser 60AT and that stupid glass cylinder costs $350.00 to replace and no service tech will guarantee that it won't break and if it does you have to replace it. I've only had my stove for a little over 3 years and it's given me nothing but trouble since I've owned it. But Jill is the person you want to use if you need someone to work on your stove.

Steve Gulmon in Salcha used to do home servicing, but he got ran to death doing it- from Fairbanks to Delta and mostly at -40, so he quit, in addition to being ran out by the big hardware guys in town. Pretty tough for a one-man show.

You should've asked when you bought the stove if home servicing was available- consumer sense here.

You might give Rock Heating in North Pole a call. I understand his wife does Toyo servicing; could ask if she travels. I own a spare stove for the reason you mention- cheap insurance.

Is there no one around there that can work on them. What is the problem that you have with your Toyo heater. I need serial# and model#. The only thing you can do is not buy anything form that company and tell everyone you know not to buy anything.

Wow, I have had Toyo Stoves for quite awhile and though I don't use them in my home; I do have them installed in 3 garages. We have NEVER been asked or told we need to bring them to someones shop/business for service. They've all come to our home to fix.

There are also several independent service providers in the FNSB who also WILL COME TO YOUR HOME. I'd be very interested to know whom you spoke with at these businesses you named. I don't work for them and in fact have no vested interest other than a couple are local hometown companies I support.

Best of luck,

I need to get replacement parts for my laser 73 stove and no one around seems to carry them? Any ideas?

Any dealer that sells new Toyo stoves should be able to help you.

I don't think the rules of this site will allow me to post the web address of the dealer I use; but typing "Toyotomi heater service" into Google pulled up quite a few dealers.

Hope this helps!

I was told my Toyostove Laser 72 stove needs to be cleaned. Can i do this myself and what do I do.

I would recomend having a qualified technican service your Toyo.

It IS possible to clean it yourself, but you will want to do it during a time that you aren't needing the heater to keep the space warm.

Certain parts can be hard to tell if they are working as they should if you aren't familar with what you're looking at.

With proper service, your Toyo will operate efficently, and likely last for a long time.

Ee20 whitch says your high limit is open ,Right by the limit thrers a crack in the heat excanger and i think this is my problem . because my fan seem to be working fine. could this be the problem or maybe...

The cracked heat exchanger should be replaced at once.

While the unit is open, a compete service should be done.

Continued operation can result in further damage to your Toyo and could result in a fire.

I have a monitor 2200 that is reading ee 13. what does that mean?

EE13 on a Monitor is one thing. The same code on a Toyostove is completely different. A Monitor EE13 means there was no flame at ignition. On a toyostove EE13 is the burner thermistor.

On the Monitor I would check my fuel tank. On the Toyo you may have to have the dealer help you, as it could be something easy like a very cold day or more complicated as a main circuit board.

I'm not real familiar with Monitor heaters, but if they are like Toyos, you may need to replace the pump.

I have used #2 in the summer. I have been told the difference between 1 and 2 is 1 has an additive so it won't free. I would use oil meant to be used as heating oil because it should be lower in sulfer.

Ee 12 code

Hi alaskasteve,

My business is Laser Heating Service in the North Pole/Fairbanks area of Alaska. EE12 is the error code for overheating. Most likely you have a Laser 30 giving you this error code. The most common reason for the EE12 error code is that the Toyo is not getting enough air circulation across the heat exchanger and causing it to overheat. Look at the back of your Toyo where the black frame around the circulating fan and flue pipe is. You will see a screen that slides in a slot at the back of the Toyo. Slide the screen out and clean it. If you have a smoker or the Toyo is in a kitchen area where it collects nicotine or grease then you may need to clean it with hot water, detergent, or 409 Cleaner to get the sticky residue off that the dust fuzz collects on and clog your screen. EE12 can be caused by a couple other issues, but they are more rare. Try this first and let me know if it works! toyotechnician

EE2 code for toyo laser 56

Hi sammysamual,

My business is Laser Heating Service in the North Pole/Fairbanks areas of Alaska. An EE2 error code is usually fuel related. What does your Toyo do before the EE2 code shows up? If you let me know the sequence of events, I can trouble shoot the problem for you. toyotech

EE2 code for toyo 56

Hi sammysamual,

My business is Laser Heating Service in the North Pole/Fairbanks areas of Alaska. An EE2 error code is usually fuel related. What does your Toyo do before the EE2 code shows up? The firing process is the burner button blinks green for 7-9 minutes, then it clicks up to the medium, yellow light which starts flashing. That is when the fuel pump starts pumping. If you hear a fairly audible tic tic, or thump thump coming from the fuel pump then that is your indication that the fuel pump is starving for fuel. You either have a fuel line restriction, too little fuel, a clogged filter, a clogged sump screen, or rarely, a failing fuel pump. Usually, it is a fuel line restriction.

If you hear no tic tic or thump thump and it just goes off on EE2 then the problem is in the burn chamber. You may have a carbon chain in the chamber causing the flame sensor to temporarily short out. You can clean the flame sensor, fuel nozzle, and igniter to resolve this problem until you can get your Toyo tuned up.
