Umts with nokia 6630

What you should know is that if you check your phone network settings, it's always on DUAL MODE which means it automatically access Edge and 3G which makes it difficult for the phone to have network on it whenever the area your are has limited network services.

All you have to do is goto Ctrl. Panel (Control Panel) ' Settings ' Scroll down' Click on Phone' Scroll down ' Click on Network ' Now Click on Network Mode ' You will see three types i.e Dual Mode, UMTS(3G), GSM Choose the GSM and immediately you will start having Full network on your phone again, you can follow the same process to switch back to either Dual Mode or UMTS(3G) - See more at: http://www.gistplanet.com/2012/02/solution-to-network-problemissue-on.html#sthash.VWEAxQ3V.dpuf

This probable if your Network does not have 3G/UMTS coverage in that specific area.

I would set your phone so that it will automatically select 2G or 3G network services (e.g. often referred to as Dual-mode) so that if 3G/UMTS is available and has the best coverage/signal, it will automatically be selected. Setting UMTS coverage only would be very restrictive in many area as the signal is usually weaker (especially in Buildings).

If you can find your way on your phone on the phone network settings (GSM or 2G/3G) you maybe able to change the setting to UMTS.

Please take note, on some phones, UMTS, 3G, 3.5G, HSDPA may all be the same.
Most often you can only select 2G or 3G, 3G may actually mean UMTS/HSDPA/3G/3.5G.

Just curious, may I know the reason why you want UMTS? Perhapd I understand what you want to do, so I can give a better recommendation.

use 3g sim in utms mode

Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Network

Then select from the following:

"Network mode" - Allows you to select which network to use.
"Dual mode" means the device uses the GSM or 3G/UMTS network automatically

Your device will automatically switch between GSM and 3G/UMTS
networks.

Go to settings->phone->network and changed the network mode from "dual mode" to "gsm". the other option there is UMTS. and that did the trick. you can always change back to dual as i remember on one of my old Nokia the phone wasn't detecting network and i had to do the reverse (from GSM to UMTS) to get it all good.

Try looking under:

Menu / Tools / Settings / Phone / Network

And see if the option for Network Mode is set to GSM or UMTS or Dual Mode.

If it is set on UMTS try changing it to GSM and see if it will then connect to the network. The Dual Mode option should allow it to switch between the two automatically. I prefer setting my phone to GSM as it will help save on battery power.

well reset ur mms settings...........if it won't work then ask ur service provider for the mms settings.....
