Re: handwheel on my singer 3116 want turn could you help...
It sounds like thread is caught in the bobbin area. Clean that out and turn the handwheel towards you not away from you or you will mess the timing up. If, all else fails call Singer at 1-800-4singer, they are great

First, remove the bobbon, hook and anything in the lower part of the machine. try to turn the handwheel. Do not force it. If this does not free it up, take it to a technician. Could be seized or may have a broken gear.
Unthread completely, then take out the bobbin and clean the area. Now rethread, and install a new needle. Always turn the wheel towards you, never away from you or you will mess up your timing. good luck
Try a new needle, and make sure that the flat side face the rear of the machine. Also, make sure that you are threaded right with no tangles in the thread and that you ALWAYS turn the handwheel towards you, never away, because you will mess up the timing. I hope that this helps you and if it is the timing, maybe you can get it fixed under warranty. Good luck
The "Bobbin stopper" is in the incorrect position. It moves from side to side in a switch like motion. In one direction, it locks up the machine. That is, you can turn the wheele backwards, but not forward.. The bobbin stopper can be found in the book that cam with the machine. In our book, it is item #9.
Slowly turn the handwheel towards you, as you hold the top thread and watch it hook the bobbin thread. Also, make sure that your needle is fresh and inserted right (flat side facing away from you). Watch your dvd and read your manual. Never turn the handwheel away from you as you will mess up the timing sooner or later. You can call Singer at 1-800-4singer if you have more trouble.
