Oh sorry your PC dont have any SATA controller...
listen, try to check if the BIOS recognize the HDD...(you will see something written near the PRIMARY IDE like in these pictures:

Bios not recognize new hard drive dell ide

The problem is with your BIOS settings. You need to make sure the drives are set to AHCI in the BIOS.

Acer T180 SATA controller/bios stopped recognizing my 250GB Hard Disk. Not able to load any OS on new Hard Drives.Bios recognize the IDE DVD/RW drive.

If it just happened without any changes then it's probably a failure of the controller. You should probably check the bios just to make sure it's turned on. Also make sure there aren't any cabling problems. Your motherboard may have two controllers, a primary and secondary. Try swapping to the other cable. It's also a good excuse to get a new motherboard and cpu. The prices are really low lately.

I replaced a 360Gb IDE drive on Thinkcentre S50 with 1Tb SATA. But when SATA is enabled in BIOS the CD drive is not recognised so cannot install any operating system on the SATA drive. Tried all...

i suspect that your problem is not in the bios, instead with jumpers.
IDE reqires jumpers on the back of drives to tell the computer how to use the drive. if you removed the 360 gig hdd (which was robably the primary drive) you will have to now make the disc drive primary.
However now there is a feture called "cable select" wich detects all hardware on the IDE controler and assigns them appropriate properties, this is a good way to do it because jumpers are a pain in the rear end

How do I make my Acer E661GXM mobo read an IDE primary HDD and a SATA secondary HDD?

I didnt got exactly what ya want ...but I have some idea...
probably it says something like ( at identification on boot ) primary ide controller.....cd/dvd...... secondary ..ide ...hdd...... sata controller hdd....
this is not an issue of which one is primary ans so ....cause those are 2 completely different bus-es ...and the only way to make your ide hdd be read like primary ...its to change the plug with the one from the cd /dvd..drive ..
the rest doesnt matter cause it s a different controller...

If you are looking at Device Manager, the computer must be working to some degree. Since there are no drives on the SATA controller, you're probably using an IDE drive and don't need the SATA controller anyway. Disable it in the BIOS. And get more memory.

Motherboard fails to see Hard Drive...please help

Sounds like you lost an ide channel, swap the ide cables around, primary to secondary and secondary to primary. and see if it recognizes the hard drives and not the cdrom.

I lost an IDE channel and had to install a sata hard drive or run the hard drive and cdrom on the same ribbon. If you run HD and CDROM on same ribbon set both to CS (cable select)
