Question about Hoover U6616-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

Hooover upright bagless - turbo power 6500

I just noticed that the cord has been run over and there is white stuff coming out of the cord. Is this dangerous? Is it insulation and if so, what is it made of? Just concerned because my little boy is always on the floor with his hands and face and the cord obviously gets dragged all over it. My husband said he noticed this 6 months ago and never said anything!
Thanks.

This material is it thin strands of string like fiber? if so then it is the insulation and not a big deal however, this is still a safety issue especially with small children, you shold get some electrical tape and cover the affected area with a few layers to prevent the area from getting larger.

How do you get into the rewinder?

This repair should be taken to a expert, If you take this cordwinder apart and don't know what you are doing you could end up having to replace the cordwinder because of the spring tensioner.

Hoover Wind Tunnel Bagless cord prong loose, Vacuum shutting off. Do we have to scrap the vacuum?

Home Depot has cord plugs. Cut off your plug, strip apart the three wires, black, white, green. The new plug will have a green screw for the green ground; a silver screw for the white neutral wire and a brass or gold screw for the black or hot wire.
Connect those wires, ensure that none are touching the others, plug it in and turn it on.
Good Luck,
Gary

remove the hose , clear that , then if you take a wire hanger apart you can pull whatever is remaining out of that connection, also remember to clean ( if you have the cleanable filter) the filter and also the top one

Insufficient suction in the hose apparatus of my upright

I have this same tool. Mine was found discarded by the side of the road and in obviously otherwise new condition. I took it home and cleaned the dirt path - it had a 'hair ball' inside - and it now runs like a top.

Go at it with a screw driver - clear all hoses and pipes and you will have a great running machine. You might be able to blow the clog out with a shop vac ...

I have a hoover upright bagless - turbo power 6500 The cord has been run over and I just noticed white stuff on the cord where it is tattered. My husband said he saw it 6 months ago and never said...

It can be potentially dangerous. What you see is the cord insulation, if you move that a little you can see the power wires. They are coated and cannot hurt you if not damaged. If i were you i would wrap it in electrical tape or best thing would to get it replaced. You can replace it your self. Order the cable from Sears Parts store(link to your model)then your husband can install it. But not to sound rude if he didnt say anthing about that damaged power cord he may not be the right person for the job. He should have known it could be dangerous and thankfully your child wasn't hurt or you two either.
Here is the part number (Part# 46383334) and it will cost you about $20 plus shipping. The cord is item number 63. Let me know if you have further questions./
