Question about Fantom Titanium II (TFD500C16) 500 GB USB Hard Drive

1 Answer

Titanium drive someone states to open my computer and explore drive. If it was that easy I would not be asking questions. The drive automatically goes to backup or restore file mode. Then it replaces empty folders. The megabites on the drive proves the data is on there but for some wierd reason it transfers empty folders. Thanks, Tom I am a mcse myself but cannot solve this that is why i am asking for someone who might know about this particular product.

Is it possible that you have the hard drive protected.. and the files in it set to "read Only"?

How do you use a flash drive on the computar

Hello

Install the USB Flash Drive:
Plug the USB flash drive into a free USB port on your laptop (it is an approximately 1/2" slot, either on the side or back of the laptop).
Windows XP operating system should recognize it. It may ask you what you want to do with it. Select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" and click OK.
Operating system should assign it a drive letter (see the title of the Windows Explorer window that opens).

Use the USB Flash Drive:
In Windows Explorer, click Folders button on the menu bar to show the installed drives on the left pane of the screen.
To copy a file from c:\ (hard drive) to flash drive:
Find the file you wish to copy on the c:\ drive.
Right-click it and select Copy.
Right-click the location on the new drive where you wish to paste the file, and select Paste.
(File should now appear in desired location.)

Hope you find this useful, if you have any more questions, just leave a comment and i will get back to you as soon as possible.

Kind regards
Andrea

My seagate external drive has very important data, for the past 1 week whenever I connect it to the computer (any computer) through USB, it shows the lights but does not auto run, when I want to check...

Hi,

Sounds like one of two things has happened.

Either your enclosure has failed or the drive inside has failed. As you have important files on the drive forget warranty options, they all involve you losing your data.

Take the drive to your local PC shop and ask the techs to move the drive into a new enclosure. If it works buy the enclosure and thank whomever you believe in. If it doesn't work ask the techs to toss the drive in an anti-static bag and reply back here with your location(Country, State and City). I will refer you into a professional data recovery facility near you for further assistance.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Fantom titanium external light turns red on connecting

Hi,

Red is a failure warning but if it only hasppens with the usb plugged in it's mostly likey a failure in the IDE/SATA to USB conversion board.

Take the drive to your local PC shop, ask the techs there to pull the hard drive out of your phantom and test it in a new enclosure. If it works there, buy the enclosure, if it doesn't reply back and let me kow your Country, State and City and I can recommend a pro to look at the actual harddrive if you need files recovered from it.

Hope this helps FixYa

My 200GB Maxtor has somehow changed from the storage drive to a local drive. Now Windows can't open this drive for viewing and keeps asking me to format the drive. It was working fine till last weekend as...

Suggestion 1:

Try exploring the drive from Disk Management:
1. Click Start
2. Right-click My Computer
3. Select Manage
4. Select Disk Management
5. Right-click the inaccessible drive and select Explore

Suggestion 2:

If that doesn't work, try changing the drive letter:

1. Click Start
2. Right-click My Computer
3. Select Manage
4. Select Disk Management
5. Right-click on the inaccessible drive and select Change Drive Letter and Paths
6. Click the Change button
7. Select a different letter from the available drop down menu
8. Click OK>OK

Perform the same steps from suggestion 1.

If the drive is still inaccessible, it's likely that somehow the NTFS master file table (MFT) has become corrupt which is causing Windows to believe it needs to be formatted. Unfortunately, it's not an easy to task to return the file system back to its correct state.

It may be possible to use a file recovery application such as Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery to recover the lost data. It's relatively cheap for one of those programs and may help you save a good chunk of your data. Here is the link to Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery:

http://www.stellarinfo.com/

I used it once when I forgot to format my memory card in my camera. I was able to save 230/250 photos.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Files not shown looks empty

Hi,

This generally means you have "logical" damage on the drive, somewhat akin to loosing the index pages of an encyclopedia. As a rule, the info is all still on the drive but there's no easy way to access it.

In most cases you will require a pro who can scan the drive and relocate all the files for you.

Comment back with your location(country, state, city) and I will point you in the appropriate direction.

Cruzer Scandisk 2.0 titanium

Hi, Not unless you are using Windows98, your PC should automatically recognize the SanDisk Cruzer Titanium as a "Removable Storage/Device". Driver is not required for Windows ME, W2k or XP. If for some reason the SanDisk Cruzer Titanium (non-U3 devices) is not recognizable, then perhaps it is not a problem with the PC but with the SanDisk. Pls try all other USB ports of your PC (front and back). The SanDisk website provides utilities/software for this kind of eventuality. They are Sansa Firmware Updater and Sansa Connect Recovery Tool. Both are available at http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx. Pls be forwarned that some utilities can and will reset your SanDisk to default and any or all data can and may be deleted. Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things are or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
