Otherwise, simply turn off the DHCP in the router, have the server and
all the clients connect to the LAN ports, and they will automatically
get their address from the server. In this scenario, you don't need to
worry about the WAN port on the router.
But you might want to think about using the WAN port on the router to
provide an added layer of security rather than exposing your server
directly to the internet. You can set up all the port forwarding you
need on the router.
