Error message 388

The error message means you have received an fax but there were problems because of poor line condiotions. Ask to resend. Here is lonk to manual.

inernational fax calls quite often do not work on digitized phone lines or via satellite. You cannot fix that. maybe your fax has a "fallback 4800 bps" setting that might be helpful.

well this error generally arises when there is too much of disturbance in the line.It may going away with time.And if it doesn't then u must retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.

Error 388 is for telephone line conditions being bad, have you called your telephone company and head you telephone line checked...?
If not please have it checked.

We had the exact same problem. Static on the line. We had the cable company check and sure enough our digital modem for the phone line was bad. The new replacement fixed the problem instantly.

error code 388 says :-
Unable to complete the handshake.

*Try to send the fax at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.

It means the thermal ribbon that is used to print your incomeing faxes has reached the end and must be replaced.
