Question about Rice Cookers & Steamers

2 Answers

I need to find a plug for an older Hitachi Rice cooker.

I live in Miami Florida. The plug got damaged somehow. This is the part that plugs into the cooker and into the wall. This is a Hitachi Rice cooker/steamer model RD-5083. Can you advise of me of a similar plug that would work with the rice cooker and where they would sell it in Miami?

How does one measure the rice and water amounts in an older Hitachi chime rice maker

Good morning to you
Did the rice cooker not have a measuring cup, where the water: rice ratio was given?
My experience has tought me that you cannot go very wrong with two cups of water for one cup of rice.
no matter where the rice is cooked, in a rice cooker, a saucepan, the micro,
try this and as time goes you will get it perfect taking into account the type of rice.

I plugged the rice cooker in a live wall outlet but the lamps don't come up and the cooker does not work.

Hi,
You have a bad connection because the wiring has been bent around too much and has failed...this will not be repairable and you need to replace the cooker...

MY RD5081 RICE COOKER ONLY WILL JUST WARM RICE, WON'T COOK.

The preassure switch may be not working right.
It may be corroded, etc.
Unplug the unit and push it back several times, try to see if the spring is working, etc.

The Hitachi has notches on the inside of the pot. You put your rice in the pot and than start adding water until your water level reaches the notch labeled 7. Remember that the rice has to be inside the pot when you start adding water so that you will have the correct amount of water for the rice you're cooking. It doesn't work the other way around. Rice in pot than add water. But usually the average cup that comes with these rice cookers only holds 3/4 of a cup when you fill them to the top.
