Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook
I have and hp dv4000 , lately when im working on my pc i get a blank screen out of nowhere each time with different color , the pc is still running while the blank screen comes up , i just close the screen and re-open it and everything is back to normal , but 2day i got this problem 4-5 times in 2 hours and its really annoying
hope i can find a solution
thanks in advance
With all the descriptions listed above, I see that the issue is with the Lid Switch which should be the faulty component.
If you are getting the display back after the Lid Switch is pressed, this makes it clear that the issue is with the Lid Switch which need to be looked at and fixed.
Hope this helps...

Sounds like its trying to go into sleep mode or standby or just turning the screen off.
This usualy happens because in the power options, the screen is set to shut off after say 5 minutes. It could be that the lid closed sensor is bad and it thinks your closing it and does this.
Try right clicking on the desktop, select properties, in the pop up box, select the scren savers Tab and at the bottom it should have a button for the power options.
Click that, in there you should see several new tabs partaining to your power options. one has some drop down boxes that lets you set what it does when the lid is close, when you press the power button and when you press the sleep button.
I would try turning the, " turn off screen option" to off and see if it still does it.
It usually says. 'When I close the lid to my laptop, i want it to: " then it will list the options.
Also turn off the standby settings if you want so it doesnt go into standby every time you walk away for 5 minutes.
Just set it how you want. but for now, just disable the close lid options so we can see if it still does it.
Good luck and let me know.

Push down on the plastic left hand palmrest. If the display returns then you have a factory design flaw that HP will not warranty.
