GE profile dishwasher does not drain out aat end of cycle

I have an 8 year old GE Profile dishwasher that has just started having a problem with not draining out at end of the cycle. About one inch of water remains in tub. I can run rinse only and it will empty, but will not do so on wash cycle. Nothing has changed to plumbing or electrical to unit.

I just fixed the very same problem by replacing the piston and nut (part # WD24X10018).

Profile dishwasher not draining at end of cycle.

It would have helped if you provided the model no.

Check this GE website for possible causes. If you do not have the user manual then you can also download it from here, But you will need the model number. (should be etched on the body of the dishwasher)

The pump on my GE Profile dishwasher is not draining.

If it is the last cycle only it is not the pump. It is a wiring or timer issue. Most likely the timer.

GE Nautilus Drain Problem

I had the same problem (water remaining in the bottom) after the rinse cycle. FYI my GE Nautilus is 7-years old.
(1) I disconnected the drain tube at the garbage disposal unit (in the sink) and, using a wire coat hangar freed a 'plug' of sludge located at the spot where the drain tube clamps onto the garbage disposal. I blew into the drainage tube to further clear other 'plugs' I observed but could not reach w/the coat hangar.
(2) I unscrewed the Filter/Strainer on the inside (bottom) of the dishwasher; and further removed the inner filter; cleaned both out.
(3) Re-ran the dishwasher thru complete wash/rinse cycles (to check for leaks. There were none.
Finally, upon completion of the w/r cycles there will always be a small pool of water (residing in the filter area). However my dishes are clean and (after 7-years) checking the drain tube and filters was a breeze.
Hope this helps

Dishwasher doesn't drain

Greg, if the model number ends in GO1, your dishwasher has a piston nut assy. thats problably giving you the grief. If this assy. goes bad you will have water left in the tub at the end of the wash. A common GE problem. It's located under the filter screen in the back and just unscrews out. Part number is wd24x199. It's an easy fix. Look up the part on the net to get an idea of what it looks like. back.
