What does the error say? Try blowing into the connectors for both the harddrive and xbox.

Your console displays the following error message in multiple languages on your television screen or monitor? E74. System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support. This is caused by a hardware failure. 1. Turn off the console 2. Turn on the console 3. Verify that your getting this error message If you do get this error message you will need to submit a Console Repair Request at: I'm sorry to hear this happend, and I am sorry there is nothing else I can tell you, this happend to me and i got my xbox 360 shipped out in 1-day and back in 3-days. I just got a 120gig external hard drive with a E68 message on it is it possibal to fix it?

Hi Keith, the E68 error is common and basically there are many causes: internal connection problem, overheating, HD general failure. You should try to disconnect the HD and see if your console works properly. If yes then it's luckily related only to the HD and not affecting your 360 :) If you get the same error also after HD removal, please advise me with few more details and we'll try to get rid of it. Now, as you just bought it, i'm assuming you have warranty so i'd bring it right back to the store and ask for a new one or a refund. Regards, Peter

Almost the same thing

Try this... go to System and select memory. Then press Y on the "HD" symbol, then X, X, left bumper, right bumper, X, X. This preforms maintenance on your HD including cleaning it's cache. Also try removing all peripherals.

I get error code e-68

there's a possible hard drive issue on this.
try the ff:
-turn off your xbox
-remove your hdd from the xbox
-turn on the xbox while the hdd is removed
-if you're still getting the sme error code, your xbox needs to be repaired/replaced

-=hope that your xbox is still under warranty=- ^^

Xbox 360 turns on, but nothing shows on the screen

If the person that you bought it from on E-Bay had an HD Television. Then the Xbox console is set into HD from the Display options. If your TV is not HD, then It will not display. It can also be the other way around, if His TV is standard and yours is HD. Also try looking at the RCA's(The Part that plugs into the 360) And you will see a slider. Switch the slider, then turn it on. Tell me if that works, if Not, tell me and I will tell you what to press on your 360 controller to set the other menu. Hope this helps.

Xbox 360 HDDVD Player

Check the region code of the disc against your consoles region code, if they don't match it won't it.

Also have you installed the updates for the HD Player, if not either download them via Xbox live or download them from here and copy to disc: Cheers
