Boot device means the harddisk...check the kabels.
Is there power on the harddisk?

What does error oxcoooo12f indicate?

There is an error in either an application or a damaged file. Try these;
Method 1:

Boot the computer in a Clean Boot state and check the status. A clean boot helps to verify if any third party application service or startup item is causing this issue.

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow steps under "How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot" in the article to boot to normal startup.

If issue persists, follow Method 2.
Method 2:
If issue persists, I would suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if that helps. The sfc/scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

press f8 when you start your computer and choose to boot into safe mode with gui. If this boot is successful, then the issue is a software issue (OS corrupted) and you can either try a windows repair using your CD, or try a fresh installation. If the issue persists, then you have a hardware issue. If you are getting this error before anything shows up (e.g. press fxx (some function key) for boot menu and/or press fxx to enter bios or some message regarding boot loader), it could be a motherboard issue. If it happens after these messages, this is most probably a hard drive issue. In case of a hardware issue, visit your nearest computer repair shop and the guy should be able to fix it for you.

In case it turns out to be a software issue, you can save your data by booting using a linux live usb (you can easily find out about this by searching a bit over the internet).

In case, this is a motherboard issue, you can save your data by attaching your hard disk to another computer as an external drive (the repair shop guy will know hot to do this).

In case, this is a hard drive issue, it is not possible to save your data any more using the conventional techniques and unless the data is really really really important (national security important) the effort it takes is not worth it.

Wont boot bios windows

Try pressing F8 while the laptop is booting and select "safe mode". If it boots fine in safe mode, it might be either driver issue or the laptop's videocard giving up. The driver issue is corrected by installing the right drivers, you can ensure if the problem is on the hardware side by setting it to boot in 640*480*256 (or lowest possible resolution) and see if it boots. Also, try pressing F8 during boot and select the option to log the boot process. The log file might then tell you what causes the stop/hang.

My computer gets halted after 30 minutes. I dont know what is wrong?

There can be a couple of issues there:
- HW issue:
Memory might have a defect
Graphics card has a defect

- SW issue (most frequent):
You have a virus. Get a bootable CD software like: http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ and boot your computer with this. Scan and remove the antivirus
Windows issue: boot the PC with the windows installation disk and go to REPAIR function.

In order to check if the issue is HW or SW, boot the PC and got o safe mode. If the PC halts also then, most likely you have a HW issue.

My gateway desktop model gt5026e shuts down/reboots automatically. i cleaned the cooling fans and made sure they were working properly but it still reboots at random,

To isolate the issue, try to boot to the BIOS screen by tapping on F2 on boot. If it goes to the BIOS and does not restart, you have good hardware components. If the issue is still eminent in the BIOS, then you have a problem with your processor. You need to have it replaced.
If it is not hardware, we need to further isolate. Boot to Safe Mode by tapping on F8 on boot. Choose either safe mode or safe mode with networking.
No issues on safe mode: then the problem is with the advanced software. Try to remember when the issue started. Restore your computer setting to previous date before the issue started. (start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore). Once you have booted to normal mode, do not forget to update your security software and scan your system.
If there are issues with safe mode: There is bigger problem with your OS. Try system restore as well. Hopefully this fixes the issue. If it does not, you need to reformat your system.
Good Luck!

My laptop has a booting problem

1.Disconnect all external devices (printers, USB hubs, USB drives, etc...) and then boot up. If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.

2. Use the"Last known good configuration" from the Windows Advanced Options menu.
If this option resolves the issue then look for any updates or software installs that may have caused the problem.

3. Boot to Safe Mode from the Windows Advanced Options menu.
If you can get into safe mode then the issue could be driver or software related.
From within Safe Mode run a System Restore.
4. Perform a Clean Boot.

We have desktop xp and it is running on safemode how do we take this off

You can't take off Safe Mode, it's there for your protection. However, if you want to boot into Normal Mode, shut down the computer. When you hear the computer beep, start tapping F8 on your keyboard. Keep tapping it until you reach the Advanced Options menu. Once you've reached this, just select "Start Windows Normally".
Now it will boot you into Windows on Normal Mode, not Safe Mode.

My dvd drive has disappeared i've tried all microsoft fix it's and still nothing

set your notebook to boot to CD and if it will not boot to the CD the drive might be bad. However, for this model it could be the controller on the motherboard. If it boots to the CD then it's a problem with Windows. Check out this link for missing CD drive http://msbin.com/error-39-missing-cddvd-drive-in-windows/

List of common issues for this model caused by the Nvidia chip:
Laptop will turn on but won't stay on.
Wireless Connectivity issue.

Onboard Network card issue

My hp laptop wont change desktop background.

Hi,

The Indexing related issue occurs if one of the device driver is corrupt or not updated. Did the issue occur right after you installed the system, or it started to occur recently? If it occurred originally, the hard disk may not support Win SAT. You may need to contact the manufacturer of the hard disk to confirm this situation.

If it started to occur recently, Kingv84, please let us know if you have installed any disc maintenance related programs. If so, please remove it and check the result. If the issue still occurs, I suggest that you boot in Clean Boot Mode.

Clean boot
=================
Let’s disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:

1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.

Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.

2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".

Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.

Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.

For more information about this step, please refer to the following KB article:

If the issue still occurs in Clean Boot Mode, please let us know if the computer is from computer manufacturer.
