Double click Control Panel. Double click Printers and Faxes. Right click your printer and select properties. Now on General tab select "Printing Preferences".
Now select the basics tab and click "Advanced features" found on the right of the page. Here you will be able to adjust the amount of ink that is used to print a page. Side the bar to the right to increase/darken the print.
Try changing the color quality of your printing under your printing preferences to best to get darker prints.
You might have set your printing quality to fast draft or fast normal.
If you do not know how to go to your printing preferences. Follow these steps.
1. Go to your Printers and Faxes(XP), Printers(Vista), Devices and Printers(Win7)
2. Right Click on Your Printer Icon
3. Click on Printing Preferences
4. On Print Quality, Choose Best.
5. Under Features -- Check the box for Print in Maximum DPI.
Howdy there! I had an HP that just gave me the same headache, but I fixed it. let's see what we can do for you too.... When the printer is turned off for 18 minutes, it kills the connection to the chip, it is a basic reboot if you will. But it works. when you turn the printer back on, click the GO button to move the options over with arrow keys and let it set onto answering machine, that will reset it. B) Go into the printer advanced options and make sure it is set to everyday printing. Go to Control Panel, Printers and other hardware, Printers and Faxes, double left click on YOUR printer you use, then click on Printer at the far left side of the small open window(the pending jobs screen). make sure the TOP option is clicked, click APPLY and then OK. That should reset the printer ink for full, also you can click on the COLOR tab and make sure it is not listed for GRAYSCALE, if it is, click it over to color and black. PLEASE let me know if this does not work too well, we can dig deeper if necessary. take care..... Guy :)
These machines have an integrated printhead built into the printer. The only way to try to fix this issue is to run the cleaning function anywhere from 3-7 times. First, remove the ink cartridges and depress the sponge side onto a paper towel. If you see ink on the towel, proceed to the next step. If no ink is present, replace the ink cartridges. They can be found for very cheap on this model. Next step, depends on whether or not the machine is hooked up to a computer or is just a stand alone fax machne. If it is not hooked up to a computer, go to the menu, scroll to maintainence and select clean cartridges. You will need to do this multiple times. Continue to do it if you see improvement, until you are satisfied with the print quality. You an also perform the cleaning from a computer. Locate the printer in the printer folder and right click on it. Select properties. At the bottom of that window, select preferences. Then select the maintainence tab, and select clean cartridges. Again, you will need to do this multiple times. Please advise if you need further help, or if this does not work and you would like info on current fax machines.
