Question about PC Laptops

1 Answer

Mona again ok, it's been 24 hr now... and l re-screwed all the screws... l was not able to take off the back cover, but l hope that l was able to at least let it "breathe"...? should l try and power it up again or wait longer?... especially since it's coke, l am very worried because of the sugar in it... l started an experiment and placed a drop of coke on a piece of plastic just like the laptop and see when it dries... it's still sticky... if it would be the same inside... should l wait until it's all dried up...?

I want to install memory and after taking off the two screws, the cover does not want to come off and I am concerned that I will break the tabs or something.

After removing the battery, get a suitable screwdriver (normally the philips head screwdriver) and unscrew the screws on the memory module(RAM) section.Push the cover back away from the side where the screws were. When you open the lid covering the section, you will see the original RAM installed inside. Remove the RAM by lightly pushing out the side panels. The RAM will pop up and in a slanted position (around 45 degree) and then proceed to pull the RAM out.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response.

Thanks, Joe

How do i replace the disk drive in a gateway ml6732 laptop?

Ok. First thing, remove the battery and the power cord. Make sure you have backed up all your important information. Then, get a set of phillips screw drivers and a small flat head screw driver.
Flip your laptop so the bottom of it is what you see. With the keyboard/touchpad area facing towards you, look at the cover on your left hand side with a rectangular shape (next to it, above it, is another one square-shape. Just for reference). Loose up the two screws that secures the hard drive/bay cover against the laptop and slide the cover out towards the outside of the laptop itself. If it is sitting tight, use a pen tip or the flat head screw driver (just be careful while using this one not to scratch the plastic of your pc) to push it gently. The Hard Drive comes attached to the hard drive cover, so be careful to pay attention not to damage the cover component. Remove the hard drive and secure the new one in place. Now do this steps the opposite way. Good luck, hope it helps.

P.S.: If this explanation helped you out, please leave a review.

HP ProBook 4510s , how to upgrade memory? This lap top is totally covered from the back side.

Very quickly.....
1. Turn the machine over and looking at the "back" of the machine, locate the two screws and remove the screw covers hiding the two screws and then remove the screws.
2. Remove the battery and then remove the small silver screws at the "bottom" of the battery slot.
3. Turn the laptop over and lift the screen up/open as far as it goes.
4. The power cover, will now be able to slide "up" towards the screen. Be careful!! It should only move less than a 1/4", then lift the cover up.
5. Remove the two screws found towards each side of the exposed area to be able to move the keyboard.
6. Just like the power cover, the keyboard will now be able to slide "up" towards the screen, again it should only move less than 1/4".
7. The RAM is located below the keyboard and you can either replace or add the necessary chips.
Putting the laptop back together is just a matter of working backwards from this small list.
NOTE!!! When you slide the power cover back on, pay close attention that the "hinges" latch properly on the edge; this edge is seen on the bottom of the laptop where the battery goes. This should be checked before you put the small screws back in the battery compartment.
Good luck and God Bless

Changing power outlet on pc

Take out all of the screws on the bottom. Remove the hard drive and the dvd drive. Take out the keyboard, take out the screws from the top cover, remove the screws to the lcd assembly and take that out and any wires that are connected to the lcd.

Once this is done then take the top cover off and make sure you disconnect the ribbon cables before taking off the top cover.

Then after taking off the top cover remove any screws holding down the motherboard. After you get the motherboard out then find where the dc jack is and then you can either change it out with a new one or resolder the exising one back into place.

Then when your done you can put it back together again.

Gateway Table PC Cx2620 Screen Wobble

Unplug and remove the battery pack for safety. DOn't want any shorts to happen. With the laptop open, gently pry with a very small blade the plastic cover at the front of the swivel and remove. It is in two pieces...front and back. It is OK to leave the rear half in place. Once removed you must close the laptop again. You will now have access to the screws on the hinges. Use a small Robertson screwdriver to tighten the screws. Snap the cover back in place....Voila!. IF the screws are broken (like mine were) remove all the good screws, gently lift and move the screen slightly forward, remove the broken screws with some needle nose pliers. Reassemble with new screws. I found some screws at the local computer geek shop in his selection of random screws. THey are quite tiny. CHeck Future Shop if they are in your area as they deal and repair Gateway so you may have a better chance of finding some screws that work. Good Luck.

Broken connection on power jack

for Aspire 5100
follow this step.
from backside
1. remove battery
2. remove hard drive cover and hard drive
3. remove the thermal cover, remove wireless card and antena cable.

1. remove the power button cover.
2. remove keyboard.
3. remove lcd cable, wireless antena.
4. remove the lcd screw (2 long screw and 2 short screw)
5. remove the lcd screw from the back side (2 short screw).
now the lcd is separated from laptop body.

from backside again,
1. remove fan, there are 2 screw that hold the fan
2. remove heatsink (4 very short screw)
3. remove all screws from backside, there is 1 screw hidden "under" heatsink. it's short scew (longer than heatsink screw).

from frontside, remove 2 screw on top part of the laptop body.
and than you can remove the uppercase now.

after you remove the uppercase, remove 2 screw that hold modem, and remove 1 screw (very short) on bottom part, it's close to touchpad button. remove power switch board and modem and then remove the speaker cable and mic cable.
that's all you can take out the motherboard.

note: just remember to use the correct screw when you put it back.

i hope this will help.
