Question about GE 106591 Coffee Maker

GE 169164 Coffee Pot Not Brewing

Less than 3 months old. Will only brew 1 or 2 cups at a time, max. Discovered the filter problem, so have long since abandoned using it (we just use filtered water now). Have followed ALL instructions to the letter. Water stays in the reservoir...but machine beeps that it's done. Repeated turning off/on caused the "cleaning" button to trigger, so we ran a cleaning cycle. Still doesn't work!! In 3 months, we have had ONE full pot of coffee brew. We've tried setting it ahead, unplugging, filling the reservoir, putting only 2 or 3 cups of water in, changed filters AND coffee grind size...we cannot get the stupid thing to brew a pot (or few cups of coffee!!) Help?? Anyone?

I have the exact same problem with mine.  I try to brew 4 cups and it will only make 2.  Called customer service and they said it was a defect in my unit so because of the 2 yr warranty I am going to exchange it for another and hopefully that one will work.  Good luck with yours!

Exact same problem with mine. The coffee machine will NEVER brew the entire amount of water in the reservoir. I have to press the brew button off and then back on 1 to 2 more times before the coffee machine finally brews the rest of the pot. Frustrating! Especially at the start of the morning!!

I wasn't using the charcoal filter. We use filtered water, so that wasn't the problem. I finally got so disgusted with it that I returned it to Walmart and got a totally different brand and machine. Not one problem, fresh hot coffee anytime I want, as much as I want. Presto...problem resolved :)

AHH!!! I've tried everything. I have the SAME EXACT problem, brews like 2 or 4 cups at a time, beeps twice, shuts off. I even took the whole darn filter out!! Still, same problem. Seeing as it's 8:45pm on a Saturday, I'll call GE on Monday, ugh.

    Worked great until now !!

Loosen the charcoal filter. You only need to GENTLY place it in. Your problems will all be solved. I just did it 5 minutes ago and i just brewed a 6 cup pot of coffee completely.

Make a 1/2 pot 50/50 mixture of cold water and white vinegar then run it through the machine in normal brewing fashion. Place a clean filter in the brewing cup to catch the white deposits that are removed. Allow the mixture to cool, then repeat the process several times while using the same filter. Finally, run several pots of fresh water through to work out the taste of the vinegar. Repeat whenever the brewing time seems to be excessive.

Coffee pot turns stops brewing in the middle of the cycle

If this is not an electrical problem, try the following:

Try running a cup of WHITE vinegar (of course without the coffee), this will clear out anything on the path.

Once you do this, run 5 cups of plain water (again without coffee) twice to clear out any vinegar flavor from the path.

You have an obstruction in the feed line to the heating element. I found coffee grounds before the check valve. I had to take the bottom off it which I am sure the manufacture wouldn't approve of but I was at my wits end and ready to toss it. I just brewed a full pot 10 minutes!!!

Clean the pot by brewing a full pot of undiluted vinegar, then rinsing it by brewing 2 full pots of water through it. Also, change the charcoal filter on a regular basis. We clean the pot this way every month and replace the filter every 2 months.

GE Model 169164 stops brewing

A couple of people on here mentioned he filtration system, or charcoal filter that is in the
water resovoir as being problematic. We removed it. This morning the pot brewed entirely.
Not sure how that all is inter-connected, but it worked.

Cuisinart DCC2000 quits brewing after 1or 2 cups

Finally, I got my coffee pot to run through without stopping several times. To fix it I had to run vinegar through eight times! Never before has it taken so many cycles to clean out a pot. It is still spluttering a bit so today I am going to get more vinegar or maybe even CLR and run it through a few more times.

Revere Ware old fashioned coffee pot

1) Boil the water you’ll need in another pot.
2) Put 1 tablespoon of ground coffee (drip grind, not percolator grind) in the reduced diameter, perforated bottom of the brewing chamber.
3) Put the grind/water separator (the perforated, flat handled plate with cup markings on the handle) in the Brewing Chamber, over the coffee grounds.
3) Put the Brewing Chamber on top of the Holding Chamber.
4) Pour the appropriate number of cups boiling water into the brewing chamber; put the lid with the black knob on the brewing chamber.
5) Let the water drain through the coffee grinds (5-10 minutes).
6) Remove Brewing Chamber, clean out the coffee grounds, and replace the lid on the holding chamber.
7) Enjoy your coffee! Keep it warm on the stove at LOW heat setting.

Long brewing time

Clean it out with 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar and 2/3 caraffe water. Once it is clean, it should take the normal amount of time and will make slightly less noise since it isn't busy steaming off as much water. Also, double-check the filter basket and make sure it is not slowing down the rate of draining coffee.

Coffee pot turns stops brewing in the middle of the cycle

Yup thats the Ticket - EASY FIX -
you have to clean the insides too people... lol.. The best way to do it is to buy citric acid crystals available from your local pharmacy. who knew huh? a couple of tablespoons in distilled water. Brew half the pot and let it sit for 30 min the brew the rest of the pot. Notice the color of your water after your done brewing. probably green from copper.. I could go into much more detail but thats the short answer... brew another pot or two of just plane ole water and bang your good go.. You should do this every month with any coffee pot for better tasting coffee..
