If you are talking about the front door boot seal it is not a fun thing to do but to replace the boot you have to remove the front cover by using a putty knife on each side once you have removed the pretty cover you need to remove the front door and the door boot from the door then the front panel 5/16" screws usually the cover usually wont come off all the way so you have to work around it it will come off but you have to finagle around under the top cover to get the screws.once you doo all this you have to pull the old boot from the tub. now going back with it is the fun part the boot locks on to the tub with a locking lip and if it dont lock it will come off while putting spring back on.Once you have the boot locked with the lips you have to put the wire spring into a groove and then put on the spring you you are able to get this far you are doing fine.after putting spring on pull alittle on the boot to make sure it is secure. If it is put front panel back on ,secure boot on the lip to the door and put on pretty cover then leak check.BUT GET READY TO SAY SOME UN GODLY WORD THIS IS NOT A EASY TASK AND IF YOU HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE PLAN ON A DARN NEAR WHOLE DAY JOB GOOD LUCK and let me know how it goes

oh ok tub inner tub has to come out this is not fun you really need a tech to do this if you want to attempt it it is the same process as the front seal BUT alot more in tail you have to remove the front cover for the inner tub and then remove the pulley on the back and if memory serves me there is a clip that holds the shaft from moving fornt to back that needs removed and then pull the tub

Maytag Washer Model LAT9416AAE - Top tub seal is leaking or where the tub and the shaft meet is leaking. What would the cost be for parts and repair (service fees, labor, etc.)?

The usual charge when i have repaired that is around $375
in addation to the seal a tub bearing would be required since the seal has leaked it very likely has rusted the bearing. To replace those both the inner and outer tub have to come apart, the breakdown would be
Service Fee $75
Labor $100

labor and service fees vary from company to company and that is probably low,yet it is a great washer and may be well worth investing in to repair

Sudsy water is leaking from the machine

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
The tub seal is the most common thing that causes Maytag washers to leak. This is unfortunate because the tub seal is an expensive repair job and not one I would suggest doing yourself. I say this because it is complicated and requires special tools to perform this job. To check if the tub seal is bad, first remove the front panel by removing the two screws from the bottom of the front panel. If you have a newer model, prize the bottom clips with a screwdriver. Then pull the bottom of the panel until the top clips release. Then start the washer and watch for a leak around transmission where it goes through the tub. If it does leak then the tub seal is bad and needs replacing. If you have the tool or willing to buy it click here for instructions on how to replace the tub seal. If the tub seal doesn't, leak you probably found the leak while performing this test.

My washer is now leaking from the bottom. It is not the standing drain pipe as the towel I tied around the flex pipe is not wet. I have the washer in a tub due to new wood floors. Not sure if I should...

maytag had a big problem with there tub seals but normally if it was the seal you would have heard it going bad prior it would start growling during could be a simple item like your drain pump assembly or one of the tub hoses and even the pressure switch hose that connects to the side of tub... best advice is fill the unit on a small load and lift the unit lightly or take the panel off so you can watch operation...find out where the water is coming from if it is the tub seal it is repairable but a project... if it is something else like a hose or the pump most homeowners could do this without a problem.... good luck servicer for 18 years heating /air and all appliances/

We have been getting grease spots on our clothes for some time and it is getting worse

The mounting stem needs to be replaced. This page shows how to replace the tub seal and the mounting stem. If your washer isn’t leaking water then you only need to replace the mounting stem so all the steps are not necessary.

Makes loud noise in spin cycle

The problem is that the seals are leaking and allowing water to attack the tub bearings.
You need new tub seals and bearings.....not as difficult as it may seem.
see u tube video on replacing maytag seals and bearings

I have a maytag neptune washer model# mah300aww.

Your tub seal leaked water into the tub bearings causing them to fail. Maytag only offers the bearings as part of the outer tub assembly and the repair can be pricey. A little research may turn up a service company in your area that has the tool to replace only the tub bearing. The repair becomes more affordable that way.

I think my Maytag MAV6200AWW washer has a bad tub seal & bearing

if you have had this unit for over 5 years Then it is TOTALLY NOT worth the repair - if it is only a year or 2 old then call MAYTAG and they may offer a parts/labor concession. average life is 5-10 years now as sucky as that is!!

Maytag MAV7200 Washer......needs seal and bearing kit

it was making a loud noise during sin cycle, like a bad bearing would
make, jet engine kind of noise, i did replace the bearing and made a web
site with pictures on how to do it, since it almost takes all the parts
out, it will show you how to get to most of the parts in the machine, and
i also included links for downloading the repair manual, and parts at

Maytag washer repair

I had the repair guys out 3 months ago maytag paid for labor I paid $150 for seal and bearings, tub froze and belt broke. the tub now is making the loud screams that others complain about I contacted maytag and reapir servce and talked with the tech. this machine is a piece of S$%^ the seal fails on a regular basis and bearings get water in them. I just missed my 3 month waranty and will not pay for that repair again. people at home depot agree that this machine is trouble. the machine must be taken completely down from the top to replace the bearings and or the belt. the tub must be removed. If you call maytag they will pay for the labor but not the parts.
