Dryer squeaks and pinches/burns clothes. Someone looked at it and said there was a worn down pad that sits on top of drum. Need to know the part name. Thanks.

Very noisey

the belt is wrapped through a belt tensioner with a roller. The bearing in the roller is bad causing the noise you hear. Sears sells the tensioner roller with the belt which is recommended to replace both at the same time

My dryer, after it heats up, makes a sound like the bearings might be going out. Is this a common problem? Or could it be something else?

it sounds like the roller on the belt tensioner is basd the bearing get hot and expand locking up the bearing causing a noisey sound. if left alone it will cause a banging noise later on. Sears sells the roller and belt in a kit form for most makes of dryers

Dryer squeqks while rotating

It could be a noisey idler pulley that belt rides on, or a noisey drum bearing or drum glides, or even possibly a motor bearing going bad. Would need to be checked by repairman to determine exact cause.

Dryer is squeaking while in operation

Rear drum bearing may need lubrication or replacement. This bearing is located on the back of the drum and requires taking the washer housing apart to get to it. They sell a high temperature lubricant if that is all that is needed, but a small bit of automotive grease or bearing oil will work well. You may have to buy bearing replacement parts ie a drum rear bearing and post kit or a bearing replacement kit. You will need better than average skills to do this yourself. As soon as you take off the front panel the drum will have no support and will drop forward. Try not to let the drum belt to become to loose or the belt retention wheel may become disengaged and the belt will fall off. Make sure you unplug the dryer before taking ANYTHING apart.
