Re: whirlpool dryer low heat works low heat does not
You may have either a bad thermostat control or wiring to the heat element burned in 2. Are you getting power coming out of the control switch when it is on high. If you are, then the element or wiring is bad. If you aren't, then more than likely it is in the control switch. Let me kmow how you do.

I would suspect the heating element. I bet you are asking why this clown is saying that when you already told him that on high heat it worked fine. SIMPLE! Your heating element is made up of five coils. For low heat your dryer uses two heating elements and for high all five. So if one or two of the heating elements are open and they happen to be the low temp dry setting ones, that would explain it. That model doesn't have the dryness sensor on it (according to my documentation) so the heating element is the most likely cause. Hope this helps! ImJustAvg aka Hal
your vent line from the wall to the outside of the house can be clogged or your you high heat coil is burned out and just the low heat coil is working, when you switch to high, both coils work. or you have a one coil system and the heat selector maybe defective
the vavle in using high heat only comes in to play when you have a load of towels or some other heavy cotton,,thats what high heat is mainly for,,more moisture,,,on the norm medium with a regular load is the way ..now go to the dryer and look at the back vent where the heat comes out does it look like burnt and dark as if you burnt shirt and it stuck to the iron,,that comes from high heat scortching,,rubber in elastic in your sock and other clothing...onthejob slow low and steady
