My local public network is asking for a security key number

Probably as is open and with no security some one change the wireless setting adding security to the router, Reset the router to factory settings and add a password to reconfigure the router not to the wireless connections, in that way people can still use the public internet but cant configure the router because dont have the password.

Wireless connection problem

That is the correct access IP address to acces the router properties.

If its a forgotten password you will need to "reset" the router to default by straightening out a paper clip and insert it into the rear of the router till it reboots.

BEWARE this will wipe username and password for the internet and security key. If you dont know your U/N and P/W then call the ISP to reset it.

To enable the above access the router by using the above IP address and re-insert U/N and P/W.

Access security options in the router menu and follow instructions to recreate security password.

My router light is greeen but there is no wifi in my house

its pretty simple.... the problem is that ipods dont connect if wpa security is enabled... just hardwire your router to computer and type192.168.2.1 in internet explorer... you ll be able to see the belkin router setup page....left side you will find an option called "security" click on that and go ahead (if it asks for password, leave it blank and click submit) and change the security type to 64bitWEP....enter a 10 digit number in key1 and click apply changes....also click on wi-fi protected setup(wps)on left and disable it.... now scan for wireless networks in range from ipod and select the network and click connect...enter the 10 digit password there... now you will be connected....
enjoy.....
rate me if its useful.....

I am unable to secure my ususl network

Your unable to secure your wireless home network? The user manual of the router has step by step instructions if you just bother to read it.

I can help you but first lets make sure that I understood correctly.

Can you clarify, what is ususl network? is that the name of your network or?

what is the brand and model of the wireless network router?

Does your computer have XP? Or vista? or??

I assume you mean a wireless network, is this a wireless network or with a wire? and how are you connecting to it?

Motorola WR850G wireless router - what is a security key or pass phrase that I am being asked to provide? Verizon has no clue. Thank you. Russ

Check this manual and look at the installation part. It will tell you how to reach to your Wireless Security page. That is where you would find your key or pass phrase.

WRT54G, unable to install router

  • Since you have Internet connectivity through the router using a direct connection to the router, then you just need to access the router's setup page and re-configure wireless.
  • But first, check if the wireless light is on in the router.
  • Then, using a computer that is wired to the router, launch IE and type 192.168.1.1 on the address field.
  • It will then ask for the password. By default it is admin. Just click ok and it will lead you to the setup page of the router.
  • Then, on the menu click Wireless. Look for wireless network name or SSID. That is the name of your wireless network. By default it is set to "linksys". You may change it to a uniqune name and then save the settings.
  • Then, if you want to enable security in your Wireless network, click on Wireless Security.
  • Set security mode to WPA Personal and create your network key. It should be atleast 8 characters.
Hope this helps!
