Motor starts right up. Runs Great. The problem is: When it's running in warm up mode,If I put it in gear it will stall out. Then hard to start, After warm up runs great will start up every time. But, when motor cold it will stall out till the gauge reaches just past the first mark on the temp gauge. It stalls when it is cold (motor). What can I do to remedy this problem ? Bob

Neuar06 is correct, the temp sensor is cracked. Mine crack was so small I could not see it. But when tested it was the problem. Technitian told me once it warms up is usually when you get the problems. but could be when its cold also.

Engine coolant temp sensor is most likely cracked.. I know it sounds strange but pull it if your looking at the engine it is on the right side of the head Will make the car hard to start, smoke, and the idle will often race up and down.. easy to fix 15 dollars or so..

The TCC solenoid in the transmission needs to be replaced. It is under the side cover. It controls the converter to lock up for better fuel mileage. If you want to drive car until you get it fixed you can un-plug the connector going to the transmission on the front of transmission. This will keep it from going to lock up mode and keep it from stalling until you can fix it. Common problem.

I don't think it's your ECM. Your problem has a pattern which is based on time or temperature. You might try looking at the IAC or "idle air control". It regulates air intake and adjust idle speed. They can get dirty and need cleaning.

Problems accelerating

the engine tickover is too slow when the engine is cold its running on cold start, ie:choke,, after it warms up the engine slows down this is what is causing it to stall in gear,, get some one to hold the brakes hard on and with the engine running in gear ajust the tick over till its reving at 750 - 850 rpm the revs will go up a bit when its out of gear,, before you pick a gear to go into push the foot brake down to stop the car lurching,,,

Wont idel when warmed up

seems to me there may be a problem with the transmission, because you say it runs fine in neutral and dies when you put it in gear!!!
only logical thing if everything else you mentioned has been ruled out!!!

Car hesitates/stalls when engine is warm and car starts to move.

Sounds like a bad motor mount, pop the hood and see if the motor shakes or moves rapidly when u put it in gear holding down the brake.

I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota, no power at low rpms

yes it does if it is reading lets say lower than normal that would explain easy start up and stalling later.the coolant temp sensor has two wires .so if your car warms up and your coolant is about 200 degrees your coolant sensor might say 80 degrees .access to a scanner to check temp would be great.
