Problem reinstalling Quickbooks 2003 in XP Home

I have been having qute a few problems with XP since the new year and it is taking some sorting out - registry problems, missing files etc I thnk as a result of an update. I have just tried to open Quickbooks 2003 and it is reporting back that in order to open it needs Internet Explorer 6 or later. I have Explorer 7 and there wasn't a prolem a few days ago when I last opened Quickbooks. I have tried a system restore and have uninstalled the programme and reinstalled it with Explorer 6 which comes with this edition of Quickbooks, but I am getting the same message. I am really worried as the tax year is ending and if I upgrade whether the new version will open my old files!

Here is step by step uninstall re-install instructions from Intuit, most likely quickbooks update caused the error, I suggest turning it off completely, there are a ton of users that have experienced problems with quickbook update service.

The newer versions of QuickBooks should be able to read the older versions files. You may get a message about updaing the data.
Many people have been reporting issues with Xp after service pack 3 came out, and was then pulled by Microsoft.
If your system did get the service pack 3 update, it may actually take a microsoft tech to undo the update successfully.

Cannot load valid copy of Office 2003, Adobe 7.0 pro, quickbooks

If it is a "new" computer, and Office 2003 and Adobe 7.0 Professional came "pre-installed" on your computer, then take everything back to where you bought the computer, and get them to assist you. If they are at all a "responsible" retailer, they will support the products that they have sold to you.

If you have your own copy of Office 2003, and you are trying to install it, then start Vista's "Program Compatibility Wizard", and select that you want to install an "XP" program, and select the CD-ROM as the "source" for the software that you want to install.

Vista will wrap an "envelope" around Office 2003, to emulate a Windows XP environment.

Same for Quickbooks and for Adobe software.

Installed Quickbooks 2009 non profit edition. Finished the interview and created a company. Try to edit/create new from Quickbooks' suggested chart of account but the account list shows "?" mark on each...

Try running all the updates that are availible for Quickbooks 2009, I know there were quite a few bugs with Vista that the patches were supposed to take care of. Let me know if that helps.

QuickBooks 2003 Payroll Question

Hi,
Without looking at your books, I can only hazard a few guesses. One is that the person is salaried and by pay date the calculation is figuring on an extra payweek. There are 53 Sun, Mon, Tue and Wednesdays in this year. Check the math and see if that is the problem (to correct add an extra pay week into the salaried amount in the employee profile)

Quickbooks Pro 2008 Payroll problem

I had to reinstall Quickbooks 2008 on a Windows installation that never had it on there before (virtual machines are handy) and now it works again. I am staying far away from letting it upgrade to latest; that's how my troubles started. I also doubt I will ever shell out money for a more recent version; I upgraded from 2005 to 2008 and it took away the ability to do automatically do IRS 941 forms if you don't pay for monthly payroll services. There has to be better accounting software that doesn't leave users stranded at year-end.

Is quick books 2003 Vista compatabile?

QuickBooks Pro 2003 can run on Windows Vista. Right-click a shortcut to open Quickbooks (or qbw32.exe directly) and click on Properties. Select the Compatibility tab. Under Compatibility Mode, check the box and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the list. Under privilege level, select "Run this program as an administrator." Select OK and everything will work.

QuickBooks has experienced an error on startup

Step one is run scandisk. If you have a cross linked or corrupted file it will sort that out automactically. Step 2 is to google "where is the quickbooks repair feature".....odds are someone has used it before. Step 3.....save your Quickbooks database (in at least two places) and delete and reinstall Quickbooks if all else fails.

Explore the QuickBooks 2005 CD, go into the QuickBooks folder and double click quickbooks.msi - this will install QuickBooks without checking for the old/outdated Flash Player 7.
