Hi...have you tried a visit to Netgear's support page for this router?

Check the version number of your router, which should be on a label - eg WGR614v9. Then click the link to the correct support page.

You should see links to Setup Manual and/or User Manual on the left. These will guide you through setup without the CD. There are also troubleshooting links to help you. I hope that helps?

There is no installation CD online, but you don't need it if you install it manually.

There is no WGR164 v6 but there is a WGR614 v6. All the information including documentation on the router, firmware upgrade, information and so on can be found at the manufacturer's website. I already got your model in the link so just click on it and check it out.

I lost the cd to set up one of my computers...

You do not need the installation CD to install the router. The CD is just a convenience item for computer novices. Netgear does supply SETUP documentation for many of its routers that take you through the manual installation of them.

For the WGR614 router, the manuals for the different versions can be found here:

http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/wgr614.asp

If you have problems or do not completely understand the installation process, please do not hesitate to ask here or e-mail me.

NETGEAR wgr614 instalation

They don't seem to offer a download for the CD, but it's not really necessary.
Go to http://www.netgear.com/ and download the manual, which gives very clear instructions. This might take a little longer, but you'll have a much better understanding of routers when you're finished.
FWIW, most routers will work without any set up at all.
To enable encryption, you'll need to review the instructions.

How to install with out the cd?

Are you using XP? You shouldn't need the CD.

http://www.netgear.com/Home/Products/Adapters/GWirelessAdapters/WG111.aspx

Gives you information about the USB adapter.

http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/GWirelessRouters/WGR614.aspx

That gives you information about your wireless router.

Do you need a manual to set this up? It looks like there are different version of this wireless router. Which one do you have? This can be identified on the package or the unit's bottom label.

Once we know which version you have we can continue.

try using "admin" for the user and "password" for the password. I have this very same router and that was the default settings for me.
